"They did an excellent job. They were expensive, but you get what you pay for. The building inspector of the city said this was the best built garage he had ever inspected. I would highly recommend them and I would definitely hire them again."

"We wanted the garage to match our new house Reubon and crew did an excellent job. We liked the garage so much we had them build a big deck also. The cost was about the same as the mass produced, size fits all one we had priced. Could not have been happier with the experience and result!"

"Exploring home maintenance projects, I contacted Angi and interviewed 2 listed companies. Oreo Maintenance proved an excellent choice. The contractor contacted me promptly, followed with an onsite visit and same day estimate. I determined to consider options of pursuing the projects in 2024 or Spring of 2025 over 3 months, finally agreeing to complete in October of 2024. Once the contract was approved and signed the craftsman arrived for overview of the project and arranged to begin promptly advising me of an expected time frame for completion, considering weather and season of this year. Professionalism and integrity are earmarks of this agency. I received regular communication and approval as the work progressed. Project completed in a timely manner. Quality of the work excellent. Great Job. Brings to mind the generations of craftsman and businessman who perform by reputation. Always put your name of what you do. Highly Recommend these guys. Thanks"

"This company did an excellent job of staining our deck. They gave a very competitive price that we were pleased with. Their bid was actually half of other companies. Very friendly and attentive to our questions. When they were done they cleaned up and returned everything to its place where they had moved it from. We will definitely have them returning when we need their services again. They do about any type of handyman work. Welding, carpentry, painting, staining, etc."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

For a smooth barndominium building process in Springfield, start with early zoning verification with the appropriate city or county department. Conduct a geotechnical soil analysis for foundation design and coordinate with utility providers for service. Submitting detailed plans for building permits well in advance is crucial, as approval can take 4-6 weeks. Verifying your contractor's credentials ensures compliance with local standards.

Helpful?

Key property information is vital for barndominium building decisions in IL. Confirm the zoning classification (agricultural vs. residential) and check for any deed restrictions that might limit building style. Understanding the soil composition, especially clay content, and the property's flood zone status is critical for foundation design. Also, verify setback requirements and the availability of utilities like electricity, water, and high-speed internet.

Helpful?

In Springfield, IL, property complexities for barndominium building often involve zoning and soil. Building in a residential zone is more scrutinized than in an agricultural one. The area's clay-heavy soil requires specialized foundation work and drainage solutions. Additionally, properties near the Sangamon River may fall into a flood plain, requiring elevated construction and specific permits to proceed with your project.

Helpful?

Over time, a barndominium in Springfield often evolves. In the first 5-10 years, owners frequently finish interior spaces and upgrade insulation after experiencing their first winters. Between 10-20 years, many add lean-to additions or expand living areas. Long-term work includes managing potential foundation settling due to clay soil and renewing the metal roof coating to ensure continued protection from the elements.

Helpful?

For barndominium building in Springfield, IL, select materials that withstand local weather. Red iron steel framing and 26-gauge steel siding offer durability against wind and temperature extremes. A poured concrete foundation with proper waterproofing is essential for the region's clay soil. For insulation, use high R-value spray foam or fiberglass batting to handle the climate, which ranges from -20°F to 100°F.
