The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that there's no conclusive evidence to show that dirty or dusty air ducts increase dust and airborne particles in your home or pose any risk to your health. On the other hand, your air ducts require cleaning if there's any mold or mildew, you have a rodent or insect infestation, or you have clogged ducts. Regular air duct cleaning will also extend the life of your HVAC system, leading to less frequent repairs and preventing premature replacement in the future.

Cat pee has a strong ammonia-like smell, so if you smell cat pee but don’t have a cat or don’t suspect your cat has any accidents, there could be other issues at hand. Aside from pet urine, your house may smell like cat pee from leaking freon from an old fridge, mold, spilled cleaning supplies, or even outside odors from nearby farms.

Failing to open your flue can lead to serious health hazards if you start a fire because the smoke will back up into your home. Breathing fire smoke, even in relatively small quantities, is bad for human lungs, and smoke can also irritate your nasal passages and eyes. Your evaporator coils should be cleaned at least once per year. However, the frequency of cleaning depends on your air conditioning system age and performance. If your system is old, keeps breaking down, or continues to underperform, you should have your evaporator coils cleaned twice per season. 

Your home’s location also plays a central role. For example, if you live in climates with a lot of moisture, humidity, wind, dirt, or dust, you’ll likely need to have your coils cleaned more than once yearly.
