Emergency services offered

"Quote by Jim Vuko included:  removal of picture window and two adjacent double hung units, installation of new bay window, trim of oak on interior, trim of vinyl exterior side and insulation around any openings before trim was installed.
Unit was available in time frame estimated.
Arrived on time, tarps over carpet and outer plants, everything was squared to make it even, and total clean-up including vacuuming interior.
Work finished by noon.
Absolutely satisfied with the everything.
Did follow-up one year later to check status of installation!

"A & B had good follow through from initial appointment to finalizing the quote. They removed possibly asbestos contaminated vermiculite from the attic and the loose insulation on top of it in an older bungalow. They set up appropriate precautions to make sure there was no contamination of the lower floors. The work was done in a day and half. The attic passed inspection with no issues."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Consider your home's architectural style, neighborhood guidelines, and the vendor's options. Samples and software previews can help visualize the final result.

When moisture infiltrates your siding, it can result in deterioration and decay of the sheathing, cause structural damage to your foundation, and provides an ideal breeding ground for mold. Mold growth can lead to various health-related problems, such as itchy eyes, sneezing, allergies, and asthma. Mold and dampness commonly attract a wide range of insects, so if your siding has taken any kind of water damage, it could invite some unwelcome guests.

Not wrapping a house before installing siding can lead to moisture intrusion, rot, mold, and even higher energy bills. Older houses may have siding installed without wrap underneath, so it’s a good idea to add a wrap layer when it comes time to replace old siding to prevent potential damage from water intrusion—local codes may even require it, so check with your municipal building authority.

Yes, vinyl siding can be installed over existing materials in some cases, assuming the underlying structure is sound and the installation will not cause moisture issues.

You should install your cedar shake siding with the rough side exposed. The smooth side is less resistant to weathering over the years, and the rough side gives your home a more rugged aesthetic. The rough side also takes to paint better and ensures any paint job will last longer before needing to be redone.
