"Extremely well. I live a distance from my rental property, and I felt comfortable working with Marc by phone sending me before and after photos of the work he did. I found Marc to be honest, caring, easy to work with, reliable, dependable, and reasonable in price. My tenants and I are very satisfied with his work, and would not hesitate to hire him again."

Small jobs welcome

"Smith's Window did both power washing and windows (inside and out) at my home. Jared is a perfectionist. I was home most of the time he was working and I was impressed with the attention to detail. He went above and beyond by completing a couple extra things at my request without charging me extra. I highly recommend and will do business with them again!"

"They were very professional, arrived in timely manner and finished the job in time agreed upon. They patched walls, moved all furniture, and then replaced every thing back to original spot. They were very neat and clean and made sure everything was cleaned up every evening before they left. This is the second job they have done for me and I will be using them again. Kept some of their cards to give to friends and family. Love the new colors that Tabitha helped me pick out.

"I contacted World Painting after CertaPro dropped out of sight.  We quickly got an appointment with them and they were ready to give us a bid that day.  The price was reasonable and it included power washing, caulking, and painting our porch floor along with the entire house.
They were able to start within the week and kept us updated through out the project, letting us know what was the next step and when it would be completed.  Customer service was excellent.  When I had a question they called me back within the hour.
They did an amazing job and we have gotten tons of compliments on it.  We would definitely use them again.

"From our first conversation, I felt comfortable and HEARD. After dealing with some...shall we say unscrupulous contractors, I will admit I was on edge and wary. However, they were honest with me from the beginning. The cost, what would be done, and timeline were exact! They pointed out issues that could become problematic in the future, but did not try and 'bid' for another job. They showed my husband and I what we needed to work on, and what supplies we would need if we decided to do it ourselfes. They even did little things that we hadn't expected for no additional cost. I WILL keep them on speed dial for issues that will of course always appear in an older home over time. Most importantly, our home looks amazing! To stroke my own ego, their work showed how good my taste is. ;) Our home suits us now and my husband and I smile every time we drive up."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

The average cost to professionally clean or pressure wash a deck is around $150, with prices typically ranging from $100 to $600. Several factors influence the final price, including the deck's size, material, condition, and how long it has been since its last cleaning. For a smaller deck of about 300 square feet, you might pay around $100. For a larger deck of 1,000 square feet or more, the cost could be closer to $300 to $400. Decks that are very dirty or haven't been cleaned in years may require more time and special detergents, which will increase the price. The deck's material also plays a role. Wood decks often cost more to clean because they require a gentle power washing technique to avoid damage. Composite decks are typically less expensive to clean, and cleaning a metal deck may cost around $100.

The cost to repair a deck is between $900 and $3,500, depending on the cause and extent of the damage. For example, fixing a sinking deck caused by pest damage can cost between $200 and $600, while replacing sinking boards costs between $500 and $4,000.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.

When building an outdoor or deck gate, it's crucial to use durable wood that can withstand harsh weather conditions like sunlight, rain, wind, and snow. Redwood and cedar are excellent choices as they naturally resist decay. While redwood is considered more elegant, cedar is a more affordable option. Other suitable woods include oak and pressure-treated pine, which is specifically treated to resist rot. Although some softwoods like pine are popular, untreated softwoods such as pine and spruce should generally be avoided for outdoor projects because they are susceptible to damage from water, rot, and the sun. Ultimately, it's wise to consider your local climate when selecting the right wood for your gate.

You can nail or screw composite decking, but 3-inch decking screws are the better fastener choice. Unlike nails, decking screws won’t back out of the composite material over time. There’s also little danger of splitting composite material when driving screws, so you don’t need to pre-drill holes unless otherwise recommended by your decking manufacturer.
