Using chemicals with harsh odors is a natural way to repel bears. While the animal’s strong sense of smell is an asset in the animal kingdom, it’s a weakness here. Simply place bleach or ammonia in a bucket and leave it outside day or night. Ironically, bears also dislike the smell of pine, so you can use pine oil or a pine-based cleaning agent. Avoid using cleaning products with fruit or citrus smells, however.

We recommend using diatomaceous earth to create roach repellent barriers outdoors. Most oil and spray applications will quickly wear down in outside weather, so they aren’t as much use  in the outdoors. If you are really struggling with an outdoor roach problem, we suggest looking for pet-safe bait traps you can set.

Groundhogs are non-aggressive animals that are afraid of humans. They forage for vegetation in yards and gardens, so they can often be seen as a nuisance if you spot one on your property. That said, if you happen to get bitten or scratched by a fearful groundhog, be sure to get checked by a doctor, as they could carry infections or diseases like rabies, Lyme, or the rare tularemia.

Yes, badgers can benefit the environments they live in. As they dig and feed, they carry and disperse seeds, which helps plants spread and grow. They also build tunnels that other species, like rabbits and foxes, can move into. However, these benefits may not be desirable on your property, and badger removal may be preferable.
