"We had some mold remediation done in the ceiling of our garage and master bedroom and needed parts of the drywall replaced and patched. Lawrence was great! He showed up promptly for the estimate, looked things over and gave a quote on the spot. Some other companies tried to convince us to repaint the walls in our bedroom in addition to the ceiling, which didnâ t make sense to me. Lawrence only did the work that was necessary and everything turned out great! He repaired the two spots, painted the entire bedroom ceiling, and left zero mess. He even replaced the insulation that had been removed with the mold remediation for only the additional cost of the insulation itself. He was friendly, professional, quick and affordable. It doesnâ t get much better than that!"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to paint over wallpaper, it is generally better to remove it first to guarantee a smooth, professional finish. Painting over wallpaper can save time, but it may lead to issues if not done correctly.

You can paint over existing wallpaper if it is in excellent condition: smooth, non-textured, clean, and firmly adhered to the wall. Ensure there are no bumps, tears, or peeling areas, and that all corners and seams are securely glued down. You might also consider painting over wallpaper if removing it would damage the underlying wall. Additionally, some wallpapers are specifically designed to be paintable, which can add texture to a room.

However, there are risks. If the wallpaper is textured, damaged, or peeling, these imperfections will show through the new paint. The moisture from the paint can also loosen the wallpaper's adhesive, causing it to bubble and potentially damage the wall. To mitigate these issues, clean the surface thoroughly and use an oil-based primer to help the paint adhere and prevent the old adhesive from bleeding through.

Rubbing alcohol may help dissolve stubborn wallpaper adhesive that remains after removal, but be sure to apply it carefully to prevent damaging your walls. Apply a small amount using a cotton swab or pad, then gently scrape or wipe the adhesive away.

Wallpaper steamers can be very helpful for removing large sections of wallpaper more easily, but they’re not always a good idea for DIYers. The drywall behind your wallpaper is meant to stay dry, and excessive moisture from improper technique with a wallpaper steamer can leave you with severe wall damage. Drywall also retains moisture, which could result in mold growth over time. It’s best to hire a professional to remove your wallpaper with a steamer to avoid wall damage and related moisture issues.

Yes, most professionals patch and smooth walls after removal to prepare for new finishes.

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.
