"Chris was my Landmark Landscaping representative who came to my home we were renting and moving from. Chris was very good at listening to me and my wishes for my front flowerbed. I wanted my flowerbed cleaned out of all the weeds and a rose bush saved. I also wanted mulch layer down. This had to last a year for the next tenant. Chris gave me a quote of $300.00 for the required work. When they got there they sprayed the weeds to kill them, waited a couple of days for weed killer to work. They came back and weeded the flowerbed as requested. It looked great at that time but they got the mulch laid and, WoW! What a great looking front yard!! We would definitely hire them again. V. Small jobs welcome

"This guy has been great for us. He is mowing the yard for my mom and he has done a great job all summer. We will also be using his snow service. Additionally, he was able to take down a tree that had grown taller than the house and for a reasonable price. He is also very kind and takes the time to talk to you when you have questions. I highly recommend him."

"I had a sewer pipe issue in my front yard that had to be dug up and repaired and needed the pile of dirt the plumbing company left in my front yard graded and hydroseeded. I got online and we’re looking for landscapers and contractors in Davenport Iowa in the Quad cities and they responded right away and had a great price. Highly recommended!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

The primary disadvantages of xeriscaping are the high upfront cost and the significant labor required to establish it. A xeriscaping project can cost between $3,000 and $24,000 on average. Additionally, the resulting landscape will have less of a traditional green appearance, which may not appeal to everyone's personal taste and could potentially narrow your pool of buyers if you decide to sell your home. However, despite these initial drawbacks, the long-term benefits include saving water, time, and money on lawn maintenance.

As long as you’re building a greenhouse, consider the overall look of your backyard. Could it benefit from stone walkways or grading? As long as you’re hiring a hardscaping pro to lay the foundation for a greenhouse, you could tackle those other projects to give your whole yard a glow-up at the same time.

If you choose to leave gaps between your pavers, you can grow some ground cover plants between them for an organic feel. Look for plants such as creeping thyme, dymondia, jewel mint of Corsica, or clover.

Palm trees are relatively easy to grow, especially when planting different varieties in their native habitats. While regular watering is crucial in the first couple of months while the palm develops a strong root ball, palms typically require minimal maintenance once they’re established. You’ll need to prune palm fronds once or twice per year to keep it in tip-top shape.

Plant a peach tree right at the end of your local dormancy period, likely at the very end of winter after the last frost when you can dig into the soft soil. Plan your backyard gardening season, including when planting peach trees, based on the frost schedule predicted in your local hardiness zone.
