"The repair was never done; my $1000.00 paid deposit was returned to me after more than a month of waiting for the repair. These are the details: A brick on my chimney was loose and then was dislodged during a wind storm, and other of the chimney bricks were becoming loose. A written estimate for repair of the chimney was provided by Excel. I paid $1000.00 up front, which was half of the estimate, and agreed to pay the other $1000.00 after the work was completed. The Excel company employee set up the scaffold and was preparing to climb and do the repair when an employee of the City of Peoria's electric company, Ameren, pulled up and told the Excel employee to immediately disassemble the platform because it was unsafe: it was too close to the electric lines - that no-one had notified the company that this work was planned so that the wires could be turned off by Ameren during the work. The Ameren employee then called the Excel company owner himself to tell him this, and then the Ameren employee did not leave until the scaffold was completely removed and the Excel employee had left with it. The Excel employee told me before he left that the company would be back in a few days to do the repairs. But more than a month went by and I heard nothing more from them. After more than a month with no repairs done or attempted again, I contacted Excel again and asked them to either do the repairs or return the $1000.00 that I had already paid them. At that point, the Excel company said they would return the money, and they did so."

"Before you hire them get a lawyer to protect your money, they have been sued 3 times since 2014, with one judgement for over $300,000.00. They did not put all the anchors in the house foundation to secure it, as the IBC 2006 and City of Pekin Illinois calls for. The roof is unlevel and not built to any blueprint. I would not have them build me a doghouse or even hire them. Poor QUALITY House and they do not do as the their contract is written. If you want to see my junk house come by and I'll show you Poor Quality."

"American Home Shield (AHS) warranty is replacing my broken microwave with a new one. I received the new microwave on 11/11/2020 and notified AHS it was in my possession. Part of the warranty contract includes the installation of the new microwave. AHS typically assigns contractors themselves. However, this time AHS contracted with C & R Services with a dispatch number on 11/13/2020 for C & R to assign a local contractor to do the install. After two weeks of waiting and not being contacted by C & R or a contractor, I called C & R to follow up on the status. They said it would be 1 to 2 weeks from the date they received the dispatch from AHS. I informed them it had been 2 weeks in which they replied that it would be another 2 weeks. As of today, 12/11/2020, 4 weeks from the date C & R received the dispatch, I have not been contacted by C & R or a contractor. C & R's lack of communication and customer service is absurd. AHS informed me that they do not have any authority over C & R."

"I have a tankless hot water heater, Rinnai brand. I called Rinnai themselves to ask who I should call for the repair. They gave me the number for trouble free and I called them. It was a 2 week wait which I understood. I paid them $100 just for the diagnostic visit. He came in, told me the heat exchanger was cracked and that it would be cheaper to replace the whole unit instead of fixing it but he would see what they could do and have the office contact me. I waited 5 days and got no call. My boyfriend finally called Rinnai and told them what was going on and they told him that the unit was totally covered under their warranty and they would replace the parts. Rinnai said they would call trouble free themselves and clear things up and get them out to fix it. The next morning the lady in the office called me and told me they didn’t have a plumber that could work on it and then HUNG UP ON ME! I couldn’t believe how rude and nasty she was when all I wanted was my water heater fixed and they were being paid to do it. I would never willingly use them again and if you are paying them for a service out of pocket or want something done in a timely manner or at all it seems like, look elsewhere"
