"The previous owner I bought the house from concealed the rotten windows and the home inspector my realtor recommended did not mention that the windows need to be replaced. 5 years later, water started to come into the house and I learned that not only I need windows, but my house susteined significant damage. I looked for a local company willing not only to replace the windows, but to fix the potential damage as much as possible. Not a same day or 2 days replacement company that will slap the new window in the rotten frame but someone willing to replace a rotten stud or seal. And I found Travis that made me an excellent impresaion- honest, knowledgeable and surprisingly, not pushy. After an initial quote I let it sit for about 2 weeks until I decided and except an email asking me if I have more questions...which I had -about 10 of them lol, he let me decide. In 4 weeks his team was already on site. Now his guys are the best. I had Adam and Rafal installing my windows and oh, my , when they opened the walls I was looking in disbelief at the rotten wood. They were able to replace all that rotten wood including wood studs, top and bottom seal, joists, etc and make the window casing look like new. Most companies either walk away or cover the rot but these guys were absolutely amazing. Every detail was adressed and every concern was answered. And I was not an easy customer because I was over concerned and watched everything they did, asking a bunch of questions. Yeah, that kind of a customer. What can I say. There are a lot of windows companies but these guys standed apart being able to handle this complex and challenging project. Highly recommended, a company that stands apart through the quality of work and professionalism."

"Howard showed up at appointed time and looked over the widows I wanted replaced and told me about his windows and showed some samples of the quality. His prices were very good and he sent his instaler out that week to get accurate measure of the windows to be replaced. I had the new windows installed within 2 weeks in time to get the federal tax credidt. The windows look great and really make a difference in my heat bill."

"Set up appointment very quickly and explained pricing before they came out to the house. They not only fixed the sliding door but also fixed a screen and window handle and asked if I had any other window / door problems . Wow what service ! I would definitely recommend this company . "Excellent workmanship and products I have had three installations with Power in the past two years. I first used them for a new roof and gutters. The workers were all knowledgeable in their area of work. Clean up was good although some nails kept showing up over time. Next I had the 2nd floor windows and some 1st floor windows replaced, 9 in total. Installation went well and they cleaned up beautifully afterwards. I love the windows! They are a beautiful and energy efficient product. Lastly, I recently had a bay window replaced in my kitchen with the same type window. The workers ere all friendly and explained what would be done. The area was draped with plastic to cut down on dust. Clean up was excellent inside and outside! The window is beautiful and the framing on the outside of the window matches the other windows and the small roof above the bay window was replaced with the same roofing as the rest of the house. I would choose them again for any future projects."

"I recently had my window seal failures repaired, and the difference is night and day. Before the repair, I was dealing with foggy glass, drafts, and noticeable temperature fluctuations—especially during colder days. It not only looked bad but also made my home less comfortable and likely less energy efficient. The repair process was smooth and professional from start to finish. The work itself was completed efficiently, and Jon took care to keep everything clean and protected during the process. Now, my windows are crystal clear again, and the insulation has noticeably improved. There are no more drafts, and the rooms feel more consistent in temperature. It honestly feels like an upgrade to the entire house. If you’re dealing with failed window seals, I’d definitely recommend getting them repaired sooner rather than later—it makes a bigger difference than you might expect."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Yes, every window needs a lintel. The lintel is necessary for redistributing the load above the window to the walls around the window. Windows aren’t meant to support a load, so lintels are an important part of a window installation. If you go to replace your windows and discover there are no lintels, you may need a window company or structural engineer to install lintels for your new windows.

The type of casement window you have depends on where the hinges are located, the number of sashes, the style, and how the windows open. Single casement windows are popular casement windows that use a handle or crank to open. If you have two casement windows side by side, you likely have double casement windows.

Windows that swing inward can tip you off to having in-swing casement windows, while windows that open from the bottom and swing outwards are top-hinged. If you can open your windows by pushing them outwards like a door, you may have a type of push-out window.

If your double-glazed windows are letting in a lot of noise, it might be because of improper installation. You may need to apply an acoustic caulk around the window to close any gaps or hire a window installation expert to fix the windows. Double-glazed windows are typically more effective at reducing noise when they have thicker glass panels or have a gas filling, like argon or krypton, between the two glass panels.

Most manufacturers have their name imprinted somewhere on the window, such as the spacer bar, hardware, or frame. Other manufacturers will include an identification number printed on the glass itself. If you’re unable to find either of these, then your window was manufactured locally (oftentimes called a “shop window”).

With a manufacturer name (or even better, the identification number) you can attempt to research the information to find out when the product was made. Keep in mind this won’t tell you when the window was installed on your home, but can get you close.

Storm windows provide several key benefits. They offer improved insulation and soundproofing, which adds comfort to your home by regulating internal temperatures and blocking external elements. Storm windows also help reduce energy costs by preventing cold or hot air from getting inside. Additionally, they can protect the primary glass in your windows against weather damage.
