"We had multiple rooms that needed plaster repair on the ceiling and/or walls of our 96 year old house. From the time that M&C EuroDesign came to give us an estimate we knew that Mike was an expert with plaster repair. He was always on time and got the work done one day ahead of schedule. He cleaned up at the end of every day. He made sure that we were satisfied with the repair before moving on to the next room. We have already hired him again to fix work that was not done correctly by the company who renovated our bathroom years ago."

"Went so so. There was an issue with the installation. The company came back out to fix their mistake. The initial install of the chair rail was too low. So the chairs were still hitting the wall and damaging it. They had to come back out to take it down and reinstall. During the take down of the original installation the contractor ripped the top layer of drywall along the entire length of the chair rails. Which damaged the walls. After this company performed the work I needed to pay another contractor to repair the walls that were damaged during this project. The damaging of the walls was not communicated to me during the rework. It was unexpected. During the rework I also had to go buy additional materials and then return unused additional materials. So this project caused me unexpected time having to spend time explaining the mistake, having to make a couple extra trips to the hardware store for materials for rework. As well as unexpected additional costs to pay a drywall contractor to mud and sand the unexpected tears in the wall. This company said the tears were because there was wallpaper that was covered up. However the drywall repair contractor I hired to fix the damage said that was not the case."

"Rick and his team were amazing. My bathroom walls were beautifully transformed in less than a day at a reasonable price. The team was professional, efficient, responsive and cleaned up as if they were never there. We would HIGHLY recommend Rick again."

"I had exterior lights installed, drywall ceiling repair, shower tile repair and the tv mounted on wall. Kevin is prompt, friendly and most importantly very skilled with any of the work he and his crew do. They also clean up the work area so that you don’t even know they were there. Everything is perfect, I can’t say enough about how satisfied I am with the results. The thing that impresses me most is I had 4 very different jobs, and each one was completed like it was his area of expertise. They are very competitively priced on top of it all. I highly recommend The Handy Veteran- you won’t be disappointed"

"After taking a number of bids, I decided to go with Yolis C Painting. All positive reviews are well merited. We had him do some interior painting and the walls look like new. Outside trim: Admittingly, some of the old paint was chipping, but what we did not anticipate was that much of the wood had begun showing signs of rot (we own the house for 40 years). He repaired and painted it. If looking for fair pricing, professionalism, and detail orientated, they are the ones for you!"

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired New Age to demolish and rebuild a crumbling basement wall. We were impressed with their work ethic. Oliver and Meme demolished the wall in the morning and started rebuilding that afternoon. We have a cinder block foundation, not poured concrete. They did a most professional job and we felt we got our moneyâ s worth. We would definitely recommend them. They cleaned up the job site themselves, not allowing us to help, even though we offered."

"Danielâ s Team did an amazing job. The original drywall repair group I hired after my basement flooded did not do quality work and you can see waves in the wall. Danielâ s Team came in and made repairs to the wall as well as placed drywall into my storage room. You can tell the difference once their work was done. You could not tell that the walls had to be repaired as it was flushed together. Would recommend Danielâ s Team to others based on their profressional and great quality of work. I will be working with them in the near future as well."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.

If you don’t backfill a retaining wall—either at all or adequately enough—the wall won’t drain well, and water will be able to pass through it. Poor drainage will lead to a warped wall or a buildup of hydrostatic pressure, which can eventually collapse your retaining wall. If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.

Yes, including patterns, finishes, and plant integration for aesthetic enhancement.

Each design is different, so we can’t say definitively if you’ll need a dedicated drainage system in place for a two-foot retaining wall. However, you can likely skip the drainage, as this project is typically served for walls that are 4 feet tall or more. Even with a relatively low wall, consider drainage if you are building on top of clay or poor-draining soil types or if there are buried water sources nearby, like a well used for other outdoor garden projects.
