Chicago based outdoor living expert specializing in Deck, Fence, Porch, Pergola and Screen Room building
"While the deck was just finished, so far we are very happy with the new build. From start to finish Dan and Dianne Partipilo were fantastic! After meeting with several other contractors, we hired Partipilo Custom Decks because they were knowledgeable, professional, responsiveness, and focused on quality. When Dan came out initially for the estimate, he informed us about new building code requirements that a new build needed to have even though we were replacing the old deck virtually like-for-like. It was apparent to us that Dan has a good amount of experience with these projects. Several other contractors we had meet with were not as knowledgeable and did not point out some of the key issues with our build like Dan. Additionally, some of them mentioned unorthodox methods for certain parts of the build that did not make sense to do or seem up to code. After coming out for the estimate, Dan quickly followed up with a proposal (in electronic document format) for our job which was itemized to show what work would occur and what materials would be used. Several contractors only supplied a hand written proposal that was not itemized which did not make us feel comfortable with the work and materials to be provided. Both Dan and Dianne, were very quick to respond to any questions. We felt that they were definitely working hard to make sure the project was completed to meet our expectations. From the start of the project, we were provided (without any prompting) all of the information we should know; Dianne even sent us an FAQ that addressed a lot of questions which were likely to come up from start to finish. They were also tremendous during the permit and inspection process by keeping us informed at all stages. The completed deck looks great and brought back the beauty of the property which was lost for so many years. We feel that they were definitely the right choice for our project, and we would use them again."

Garage floors can be ugly. They get stained with dirt and motor oil, and marred-up by your car's hot tires. That is when epoxy flooring comes in to play. Epoxy floor coatings are designed to be a sacrificial barrier between the concrete substrate and the elements in your garage that are harmful to it (i.e. tire traffic, road salt, gasoline and oil leaks, etc.). So what makes an epoxy coating one of the best finishes for your garage floor???? Besides looking NICE, the hardened and thick application that you get from epoxy creates a coating that is very DURABLE and resilient to impacts, chipping, chemicals, stains, and surface abrasion. You don't have to panic about damaging the floor if you drop a wrench or a bicycle falls over. The thicker coating also does a great job of covering over minor imperfections such as small spider cracks and flaws in the concrete. Because epoxy is a topical sealer, it is also anti-dusting. Much of the dust in a garage is created from the powder that a cement floor can shed. Normal traffic on bare concrete can kick up this dusty powder that has a tendency of collecting on cars, tool benches, and storage items, as well as being tracked into the house. As a topical coating it is also naturally moisture resistant. This is a great benefit for people who live in snowy climates. It makes for easy cleaning of icy brines and road salts that can collect on the floor during the winter. Just a little mild soap and water is all it takes. Dust and debris can be collected with a dust mop or soft broom when the floor is dry. Epoxy Flooring is a decorative concrete solution that is committed to "next generation" technology along with premiere product quality, and excellence in service. With many years of experience and research allow our customers the ability to create the most attractive and durable concrete flooring for the following concrete floor coating and covering needs.

Concrete can crack from general wear, improper installation, or in response to uneven support from the soil underneath. Small, thin cracks on the surface of aging concrete are usually a result of normal wear and tear, while cracks on new concrete more likely indicate a problem with installation. Larger cracks or uneven steps can signify a much more severe issue. A concrete contractor should be able to diagnose the cause and repair concrete cracks for you.
A concrete driveway lasts between 25 and 30 years, provided you maintain it correctly. Other factors that impact the lifespan of a concrete driveway include your location’s climate and the amount of wear and tear it receives. Heavier vehicles, like RVs and trucks, notoriously create more wear and tear than lighter vehicles and, therefore, might reduce the concrete driveway’s overall lifespan.
With proper maintenance, exterior concrete steps can last 25 to 50 years or more. In most cases, your steps will require some minor repairs over that time frame, including sealing surface cracks and resurfacing to keep them in good condition. Interior concrete steps should last even longer, usually between 50 and 75 years, as they don’t have to stand up to the elements.
The cost to install a concrete driveway is $4 to $15 per square foot on average. Your price heavily depends on your desired concrete finish and driveway size.
For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay an average cost of $1,900. For a driveway at double that size (400 square feet), the average price is closer to $3,800. Plain concrete is significantly more cost-effective, averaging $7 per square foot, whereas stained concrete averages around $19 per square foot.
The cost of resurfacing concrete is $6 per square foot on average, though that cost can range from $3 to $9 per square foot.
For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay $600 to $1,800, and for a driveway that is 500 square feet, that cost averages $1,500 to $4,500. Resurfacing your driveway will give you the look and feel of a new surface without the hefty cost.
You may want to hire a concrete floor contractor to check out your home’s concrete surfaces or inspect your home’s foundation for minor damages that they can fix while on site. They may be able to fix cracks in your driveway or garage floor the same day they fix your concrete steps, as well. General concrete repair experts usually won’t be able to handle larger jobs, like leveling a sunken foundation, so you’ll need to hire a structural engineer for bigger projects.
