In addition to the paint, which looks great, he spent at least 10 hours repairing damage caused by my flooring contractor (and somehow managed to make an entire houseful of badly damaged trim look nearly as good as new). No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

Not all attic floors are created equal—size, layout, and square footage often vary. Persistent smells despite deep cleaning, faded color, worn-down carpet padding, and general wear and tear are signs that it's time to tear it up. If you are experiencing allergy issues indoors, this could also be a sign that new flooring is the key to a fresher home.
