"PV Landscaping did an amazing job. We had taken down a pool several years ago and the backyard was in horrible shape. Our fence was in terrible shape. Pedro and his team came in and made our backyard beautiful and our new fence looks perfect. I would recommend this company to anyone, they do fantastic work, show up on time and make sure you are happy with the work."

"What a lucky find! We lost part of our wood privacy fence in a terrible storm. The next day we did a search, and J&D sent ME an invitation which I accepted. Julio not only came out the same day, but squeezed in the repairs too! Not only was the timing perfect, but so were the repairs. Julio went and got needed parts, salvaging parts that were still viable, rather than charging us for ALL new parts. Very cost conscious. The repairs were also done RIGHT. The posts were cemented in, rather than just stuck in the ground. Done right. Julio was very polite, quick, timely, affordable, and the work was done properly. I couldn't have asked for more. I wouldn't hesitate to hire J & D again, and their business card is hung on my wall. I am confident in recommending them to anyone needing fencing."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Rust, bent panels, loose posts, and broken welds often require repair.

In terms of materials, chicken wire mesh will be the most inexpensive option to use when building your fence. The downside is that it’s not the most attractive garden fence option. In a similar vein, you could choose a DIY fence made out of repurposed items, like car tires, or wooden pallets, either of which would be free to collect.

The best wood for fence posts are redwood, cedar, and pressure-treated pine. Wood posts made from these materials will typically lasts between 15 and 30 years, depending on the specific type you choose and your local climate. With proper care and maintenance, a fence post made of these materials can withstand most weather conditions.

The best fence option for you depends on your property, budget, and style preferences, but a corrugated metal fence could be a good option if you want something durable yet low-maintenance. Unlike wood, corrugated metal won’t fall prey to rot or pest damage, and the metal can be recycled after its life as a fence comes to an end.

There are many types of wood fencing that you can choose from. For split rail fencing, the most common wood types are cedar, pine, black locust, and chestnut. The best wood for you will depend on if you like the way a certain wood looks and the availability of the wood type in your area.

Most of the wood types you can find at your local home improvement store are good choices since they all have rot-resistant properties or are pressure-treated with pesticides. If none of the wood options speak to the look you’re going for, check out vinyl fencing.
