"The four support pillars on our porch were wood. They constantly needed painting. Gilberto Masonry redid them in stone. The result was stunning, we are very happy with how they look. While many home porches have the supports bricked. Stone adds a very unique look. I highly Recommend Gilberto Masonry."

"Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement."

"I have a partially finished basement with theater. The repair was done in a back room that houses expensive AV equipment so I was concerned about concrete dust damaging the equipment. They created a Visqueen tunnel where they worked, and this protected the equipment as well as the entire finished portion of the basement. The repairs were explained in detail and the lifetime warranty is very reassuring that their work will fix the problem. Now I just have to wait for a downpour to confirm."

"Project: Radon Mitigation Jordan explained what was being done for the project. He was very thorough in making sure the crawl space would be sealed and vacuum was proper in the crawl and basement. I would recommend Gardner Environmental to anyone needing Radon mitigation work."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

No, you don’t need to soak the brick before cutting it by hand. In fact, cutting a wet brick can make it harder to see your score lines and may cause the chisel to slip. Soaking is sometimes used with power tools to reduce dust, but for hand-cutting, it’s best to work with dry bricks for better control and visibility.

Yes. Black stains are more than an eyesore. Some black stains can pose health concerns, especially for those with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory conditions. Some stains can also damage the brick’s structural integrity, harming the mortar and resulting in more expensive repairs.

Clean regularly, check for cracks, and inspect the chimney annually for safety.

A well-made brick wall can last up to 100 years if maintained properly, which includes regularly repairing the mortar every 30 to 50 years. If your brick wall is under 30 years old and is already showing signs of repair, it may be due to poor brickwork and installation. Extreme weather conditions can also accelerate a brick wall’s life span (especially the exterior of a house).
