"I went on Home Advisor at 6:30 a.m. Brian was here at 8. He checked out everything on my furnace and double checked again. I needed one part plus I chose to replace thermostat due to age. He never tried to sell me unnecessary parts. He explained all the parts on my furnace and made it understandable. I am very pleased with my warm home. "We woke up to a 63 degree house.  Not good in Illinois in early February.  Checked the boiler, and the pilot light was out.  I could not get it to light again.  I contacted an HVAC only company, and they told me, since it was a boiler system, I needed to contact a plumber.  Ameriplumb has been recommended to me by Custom Home Updates, so I called.  They fit me into their busy schedule the same day (rare these days), fixed the problem (thermocoupler) at a very reasonable price, and they were very pleasant, courteous and efficient.  Heat was on that evening (which is good to know with a one year old in the house).

While an air conditioner can temporarily run with a dirty filter, it is not recommended as it will not work efficiently. A dirty filter forces the system to work harder to circulate cool air, leading to reduced airflow, increased wear and tear, and higher energy bills. This added strain can cause the air conditioner to overheat or fail prematurely. Furthermore, a clogged filter may allow dust and dirt to accumulate in your ductwork, negatively impacting air quality. It is more cost-effective to clean or replace filters regularly than to pay higher utility bills and risk needing to replace the entire AC unit.

A new air conditioner capacitor will cost less than replacing the entire air conditioner system. While a capacitor itself will cost between $8 and $25, paying a professional to replace an AC capacitor will cost $180 on average. It’s not safe to replace an air conditioner capacitor on your own. 

When a compressor gets overheated in central air systems or heat pumps, it can still cool your home for a while until it eventually gives out. If the compressor is chronically overheated and no one addresses the root cause, it will create an incredibly expensive problem when your entire HVAC system breaks down and stops working altogether.
