"Premier replaced all of the windows in my North Aurora townhome as well as the rear exterior door. Even though I had done A LOT of research before Pat came out to provide the bid, I can't say enough about how thorough and patient he was in explaining the installation process and the various features of the windows. After he left I knew if the price was reasonably close to the other bids I wanted to work with Premier. The installation crew was also professional, courteous, and competent, and they worked efficiently to get the job done."

"They did excellent work repairing several windows with fogged glasses and rotted wood sashes. The technicians worked hard for eight straight hours. They even painted the new wood sashes. On average, bay windows are three times as expensive as a standard double-hung window, so up-front cost is a major drawback. They also let in more natural light than most other types of windows, which can be a positive thing, but it can also lead to more aggressive fading and UV damage to furniture and flooring. Larger windows allow for more heat transfer, so bay windows tend to be less energy-efficient due to their size. Finally, window treatments for bay windows can be more challenging to find, and they’re more expensive than those you’d place over standard-sized windows.

Bifold windows work by using a track that allows panels to slide to the side and "stack" so they take up minimal space, leaving the largest opening. The sashes connect to each other with butt hinges or concealed hinges and to the window frame with the same type of hinges you’d find on a casement window. Some manual bifold windows also have casement stays or another piece of hardware to keep your windows in place when they’re open.

There are several downsides to choosing casement windows for your home. Firstly, casement windows can cost significantly more than standard windows—especially if you need to install custom windows. If you plan on installing window AC units, then casement windows aren’t the best option, as it can be difficult to fit an AC unit into windows that open sideways or outwards. 

The hinges on casement windows also pose a higher risk for break-ins, as rust and wear and tear can make the hardware easier for burglars to break into.

If your windows weren’t manufactured with a retaining clip to receive muntins and hold them in place, you should contact a window company near you to add them for you. A professional will bond the muntins directly to the glass to hold them in place, and they’ll make sure the edges line up nicely with your window frames. If your window does have retaining clips to hold muntins in place, you can just pop the muntins into the clips.

Arched windows are slightly more expensive than standard rectangular ones, but they only cost $50 to $100 more per window. However, adapting a rectangular wall opening to accept an arched window can add $200 to $400 to your total, making them a more expensive option over sticking with a standard window replacement.
