"Axiom did a fantastic job on our kitchen remodel, which involved adding an extension on the small existing kitchen and adding a new pantry and a new bathroom downstairs. They remodeled our upstairs bathroom too. All well done. The new kitchen is gorgeous. (Those pics of the kitchen with navy blue cabinets, white counters, and bamboo floors-that's ours.) We love it. So does everyone who sees it. Still can't believe how great it turned out. We have an old home (built ca. 1910) that needs a ton of work. The old kitchen had to be completely gutted. Extension, additional structural supports, a door moved, new windows added. And a new floor right down to the joists. The whole thing. It was a huge, complicated job. I talked to several contractors as well as a designer and structural engineer so I knew a bit of what we were getting into. So I was looking for a company I could really work with and trust. Axiom came through. The owners really care about doing high quality work. The company eliminates many of the problems people often have with contractors (like never being to get an answer back or know what's going on with the job) because one partner handles the logistics / materials ordering, and the other manages the construction site. One or the other got back to me right away whenever I asked a question, and they kept me posted about what was going on. We ran into some unexpected (and expensive) problems-that's an old house for you! But they let me know what was going on immediately so I could make decisions about what needed to be done and keep an eye on my budget. The construction manager also has a great sense of design. He really helped me figure out how to make the space work. (Ended up using his ideas more than anything the designer had given me. Glad I did.) Their entire crew was great too. Helpful. Polite. Got the job done. And dealt with any problem that came up."

"We got SAL?s name from friends of friends at church that they had built a new house for.
After a tour of their house we were set on SAL as our contractor. We had them remodel our master bathroom.  This
was a big project as everything was removed down to bare bones.  They guys showed up on-time every day and
always cleaned up the mess at quitting time. Scott & his crew are wonderful pleasant people that truly care about
what they do.  Our bathroom turned out perfect. We get so many compliments on the custom shower they built. Amazing!!!  I would recommend them to anyone. They aren't the cheapest contractor in town, but you get what you pay for.  We plan on having them back to replace our windows too!

"I contacted World Painting after CertaPro dropped out of sight.  We quickly got an appointment with them and they were ready to give us a bid that day.  The price was reasonable and it included power washing, caulking, and painting our porch floor along with the entire house.
They were able to start within the week and kept us updated through out the project, letting us know what was the next step and when it would be completed.  Customer service was excellent.  When I had a question they called me back within the hour.
They did an amazing job and we have gotten tons of compliments on it.  We would definitely use them again.

"Ken showed great creativity in tiling and fixing our shower.  We had discovered a leak when replacing our bathroom floor; and several different contractors told us they could not fix the situation because we had a 'custom shower'.

Ken basically rebuilt the 2 outside walls of our shower?solving the problem.  He was very easy to work with and has great ideas!

Oh, and best of all... it looks great!   We are very pleased.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

Not all porch columns are load-bearing, though they can be. Some porch columns are simply decorative. There are ways to identify a load-bearing column, like looking for visible seams and a foundation. Also, check to see if the column directly enters the ground. In some porch installations, a contractor will excavate a hole to install a column into the earth along with a buried cement base for stability.

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.

Installing a tongue-and-groove wall requires similar techniques to those associated with installing shiplap. However, because of the precision necessary to make each board fit perfectly and the increased material prices, the cost is higher than that of shiplap installations. Expect to spend between $2 and $6 more per square foot for tongue-and-groove walls versus shiplap ones.
