A.N.T Masonry is owned by Ken, who has 20+ years of masonry experience under his tool belt. Ken's motto is being professional, productive, and a client-focused attitude. A.N.T Masonry is a full service interior & exterior masonry repair, restoration, and reconstruction, including: Brick & Block work / Stone Masonry Brick, block and stone repair & replacement Color change Chimney repairs and liners Custom Masonry Interior & Exterior fireplaces Door & Window openings Glass block windows Foundation Repair Cracks Settlements Leaks Masonry Repair & Maintenance Masonry cleaning / pressure washing Historic stuccos & rendering Mortar analytics & matching Spot pointing Caulking New Construction Services Tuck-pointing Waterproofing

"Ken, who owns this business, has a lot of integrity. I hired him initially to mortar and Tuckpoint my chimney and the brick on the front of my home. I had a bit of water leakage in my basement and felt it was because of the missing mortar (now, no leaks). Not only did he do an excellent job on that (matching color and style), but he found defects with the way my recent HVAC had been installed and mortared the open clay flue to the furnace. He installed a liner into my furnace flue for a very reasonable price and stuck to that price for stainless steel, even though he ran into obstructions that caused him to have to open up the brick wall, in the basement behind the fp, to chip out the flue obstructions. He then closed the wall, and rebricked and mortared it, matching the original brick. He tied that furnace and hot water heater into the new ss lined flue. It's much safer! When I could see how well he works with brick, I tested his skills on cement, and he took my front cement porch, drilled out imperfections, filled cracks and built me a step to the front porch that had become a big step up. He also built me a cement step into the house from the garage (wooden step was decaying) and an additional step on a side door small stoop that had sunk. Not having to replace this cement work saved me thousands in cost. Ken also filled a significant opening into my garage from the outside connected to cement failure on a side floor/bottom of wall on both the outside and inside. He is incredibly dedicated to getting the job done in a way that satisfies the customer. Ken is rare in that he treats your home as if it's his and tries to give 120% to make it safe from carbon monoxide leaks and leakproof from water. It's not that common to find high integrity and low cost in the trades. I found him secretly mortaring a bottom side to my chimney, under the dirt, with black mortar, because he found a small opening left by the original builder. WOW."

Your approval is our best achievement.

"I have held off on posting a review because I was hoping for a resolution. However, I've been waiting since May and it's now October. I hired this company twice. Each time they mismeasured the windows. The first batch of windows were installed incorrectly with the weep holes for water drainage blocked by the sill. Their own installer said they were a "tight fit." Custom windows should NEVER be a tight fit... they should fit just right. The second time they mismeasured the windows by nearly a foot, and they had to cut the framing of the living room open to accommodate. They left a mess of shards of glass in my lawn because they used hammers to remove the old glass. They were supposed to fix the weep holes. They have sent people out at least three times who all said that these were done incorrectly. They have not yet fixed any of the problems. I'm attaching photos to show how there's no way that water can drain from the window well which was pointed out to me when I had my windows washed professionally. They have been consistently late, the quality is lacking, and they aren't supporting their product or service. I have tried to be patient and supportive of a local small business. However, they have been paid in full but will not fully warrant their work from defects so far."

Glass block services FAQs

Typically, glass block windows last about 15 to 30 years, slightly less than regular windows, which last 20 to 50 years. Resealing glass blocks can help extend the lifespan of this bathroom feature. The key to ensuring that glass block windows last as long as possible is to have a professional glass block installer place them. Glass block pros will have the skills, tools, and knowledge required to install these special features into any space, noting obstacles like damaged windows or too-cramped areas during the consultation.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

The average cost to install glass block windows is about $710, ranging from $460 to $1,000, depending on the size and design of the window, installation type, and location. Different styles of glass blocks also impact the cost:

  • Clear glass blocks: $10–$30 per block

  • Colored glass blocks: $25–$40 per block

  • Acrylic glass blocks: $15–$25 per block

  • Wavy glass blocks: $10–$30 per block

  • Alpha glass blocks: $15–$25 per block

  • Ice glass blocks: $20–$35 per block

  • Diamond glass blocks: $20–$75 per block

  • Frosted glass blocks: $30–$35 per block

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.
