"We are so glad we hired Eddie and his Team for our basement drywall installation! They completed the drywall for our bathroom and around our mechanical area. We reached out for a quote and Eddie came out that same week, and was able to start our project within a few days. They were very professional and did an amazing job cutting the drywall to the basement ceiling (we will be doing a blackout ceiling). We will absolutely be calling them when we are ready to proceed with the next portion of our basement!"

"I had a really good experience with the Patch Boys. They did an awesome job from scheduling the quote to completing my drywall job. Excellent communication and customer service. I even hired them to complete an additional flooring installation that turned out great. I would definitely be using them again and would greatly recommend them."

"Great job by Cesar! Very professional and great communication. Both my bedroom and bathroom look great! Always cleaned up after he left and vacuumed. The job took three days and it was well worth it. Cesar went way out of his way to fix things that needed to get done even without asking. Thank you Cesar"

My name is Isidro but I go by Izzy, I’m a 36 y/o family man with a supportive wife and three kids. I’m a ((passionate)) taper and drywall finisher, I also enjoy doing interior painting and luxury wall designs, texture, and venetian plaster. I’m an honest and reliable worker with attention to detail who prioritizes customer satisfaction. I have worked as a district painter for township school district 211 and for drywall companies such as Mjs Drywall and Patch Masters of North Shore, my niche is taping and finishing but look forward to providing you with quality work!

Small jobs welcome

Hi! My name is Daniel and I have been working and getting my hands dirty since a teenager. I use to work in remodeling residential houses, but now I'm a supervisor in the Ink industry. I've always been good with figuring out how to fix things from household appliances, to holes in walls, or having to regrout bathroom tiles due to mold. I've put in hard wood flooring, vinyl flooring, drywall, trim and crown molding, as well as paint. I'm willing to go about 25-30 miles from my home to work for some extra income. And if you do follow through with hiring me, I can assure you, whatever you need done will get done in a timely and efficient manner with care and attention to detail. So please reach out with any questions and I'm more than willing to be at your service.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Certain drywall textures, like sand and sometimes popcorn, can be smoothed by applying skim coats, sanding the walls, or chipping away the texture. However, it’s worth considering removing the texture and starting with a blank canvas. Smoothing textured walls requires a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease and can take longer than just outright removing the texture.

The best way to make long, straight cuts is to use a utility knife and a T-square to score the sheet, snap along the score, and then finish the cut by cutting through the paper on the opposite side with the utility knife. If you’re making small cuts, curved cuts, or cutouts for electrical boxes or light fixtures, you can use a manual jab saw to keep costs down, but an electric spiral saw or oscillating multi-tool will get the cleanest, fastest cuts possible.

The person’s skill will affect how many drywall sheets they can hang in one day. Some people can hang 10 or more sheets in a day, while others may only hang six or seven sheets. It also depends on the framing complexity since custom cutting and fitting the drywall can prolong the process.

The amount of drywall you need for a 1,000-square-foot basement depends on the ceiling height, angles, number of doors and windows, and more. To find the wall square footage, multiply the width and height of each wall, minus any gaps from windows or doors, and add the totals together. You’ll also need enough drywood nails or screws to install the drywall correctly.

The time it takes for thinset to dry is determined by your room’s ambient temperature and humidity levels. Assuming the average humidity level is around 40% with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, thinset can dry within 48 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend the curing process beyond 72 hours, while high heat and zero humidity can shorten the curing process. However, thinset can crack if it dries too fast.
