"From initial consultation until completion of the project: Excellent! Our entire yard had slowly become overgrown; too much to weed, trim, water, etc. I needed to downsize, simplify, but still retain curb appeal. Dean was exceptionally easy to work with, listened well, offered suggestions, made a plan and that was it. He was always available by text or phone and answered every one of our questions and concerns. He and his crew were prompt, efficient and meticulous in their work. Our yard looks fabulous! Dean takes a lot of pride in his business and it shows. We highly recommend D & D Landscaping."

Customers say: Super punctual

"I got a call quicker than I expected that the guys who would be doing the extraction would show up that day. I was at work, but when I got home I saw the work had been done.  I had never seen the front of my house in the 25 years we've lived there!  It was a little scary - did I make the right decision?  One or 2 days later J.D. called to say they'd be starting a 2 day weeding/ cleanup/ installation.  I was leaving for work when the crew started.  They were polite and hard working.  I came home to find thousands of weeds gone, everything edged and the plants laid out in containers where they would be planted the next day.  I spoke to J.D. the final day and we tweaked a couple things.  when I got home from work, everything was done and beautiful!!
J.D. emailed me a watering schedule for the new plantings and a paid invoice.  I will happily recommend Green City Gardens to anyone who asks, and will call them for any future work I might want.  Thank you Green City Gardens!

"Great communication; Tom responded to my request almost immediately. He is extremely knowledgable. Walking around my property he advised me on several issues looking over my many fruit trees and shrubs of which he knew the species of every one. The same with all my early emerging perennials. I scheduled spring weed control, fertilization, and aeration in the fall. Love that they use organic products! I cannot wait to see the difference in my yard."

FAQs for weed maintenance projects in Aurora, IL

The cost to reseed or overseed a lawn is about $1,050 on average, ranging from $450 to $1,700, depending on lawn size, seed type, and location. Popular seed types for residential lawns include bahia, fescue, and Bermuda. Keep in mind that it costs $0.10 to $0.20 per square foot to seed or overseed a lawn. Additional cost factors may include:

  • Fertilization: $80–$400

  • Soil testing: $700–$2,100

  • Yard cleanup and leaf removal: $200–$560

  • Treating weeds: $110–$325

  • Mowing: $50–$210

On average, the cost of lawn fertilization is $250, ranging from $80 to $400, depending on the size of the lawn, its current condition, additional treatments, number of applications, fertilizer type, and location. Keep in mind that labor, tools, and equipment make up 80% to 90% of the total cost of lawn fertilization. Additional lawn treatment options include:

  • Lime treatment: $100–$150 per 1,000 square feet

  • Crabgrass treatment: $30–$80

  • Grub treatment: $30–$80

  • Mulching: $150–$400

  • Dethatching: $265–$295

Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.

When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:

  • Location

  • Yard size

  • Project size

  • Materials

  • Land preparation

  • Type of landscaping

Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000
