"First off , if you are considering using an interior designer and have never done so, DO IT!! It will be the best money you ever spent, and even more so with Mila! For me, I had mostly the right pieces. Just not the right paint colors or flooring, def not using accessories or mirrors or pictures or furniture in the right places. She comes in with a keen eye for detail and looks at things with an eye that we donâ t. Pictures things in ways we have never considered or thought of edits, changes, moves and adds in ways that alters and enhances a room so that it is still your family room, or hallway or bedroom, but better. Polished. Finished. Elegant. Touched by a designer and looks and feels so. Have you ever walked into someoneâ s home that was truly unique and everyone just falls in love with it? Well thatâ s my house now! Mila walks around ur home and grabs pieces from this room and that, offers color advice from walls and floors to your kitchen cabinet knobs. The smallest things we never think of that she does, makes a mighty impact. One room is playful, the next is serene. Another is bright and feels like a garden. I could never have achieved this without her. I started with one room and graduated to 3 more and a hallway. I am artistic and have a point of view. I just couldnâ t have achieved this without her expertise. Run, donâ t walk to the phone to hire her!!"

"I worked with Bonnie at Interiors by Decorating Den/Jacquard Design Team. She was great. She provided several options and then helped me put the final concept together. She was very responsive and allowed me some flexibility that allowed me to stay within my budget. I would definitely recommend her to others and use her again in the future."

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

It’s often worth hiring a closet designer, even though the process can be expensive. Custom closets drastically improve the usability and convenience of your living space, but they also tend to improve your home value. Not only will your custom closet improve your living experience, but you’ll likely see more than a 50% return on your investment when you sell your home.

The main difference between a home stager and an interior designer is that the former creates temporary, generally appealing spaces, while the latter creates personalized design choices for your permanent home. A home stager seeks to depersonalize your home while also showing off the best features of the home to potential buyers. An interior designer works with you to infuse your personal style into the decor in your home. You’ll typically only hire a local home stager when selling your home.

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.

No, even if you have a vague idea of what you want, it’s a good idea to reach out to a contractor that specializes in outdoor kitchens for assistance. Professionals who have constructed kitchens for other homeowners can not only help you think about the functionality and convenience of your outdoor space—which many homeowners neglect—but they can also help you choose high-quality, durable materials that meet your budget and match the rest of your outdoor space. In fact, it’s often better to contact a contractor and get the ball rolling before you have a solidified plan for your outdoor kitchen.

While the terms 'interior designer' and 'interior decorator' are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct professions with some overlapping work. The primary difference lies in the scope of their projects.

An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetics of a space, making less permanent decisions about decor. Their work involves selecting colors, fabrics, furniture, wall art, paint, and other finishes to 'dress' a room and enhance its style.

An interior designer has a broader scope that includes a decorator's aesthetic focus but also extends to the structural and functional aspects of a space. Designers are qualified to plan layouts, make structural changes, and manage overall functionality. They handle permanent decisions regarding fixtures like cabinets and bathtubs, establish floor plans, and may hire contractors.

Due to the technical skills required, interior designers typically have formal education, certification, and may hold a license, which can result in higher fees. As a general rule, it is best to hire an interior designer for major remodeling projects and an interior decorator for projects focused on establishing or refreshing a home's interior style.
