"Neil did the job fantastically and explained what he was doing throughout, always asked for an inspection to make sure it was done to my satisfaction. Pricing was extremely fair and he was timely and quick. Would highly recommend for any insulation work you need done. Can’t speak on the other work he does, but if it’s on par with what he did for me, then you’d be doing well."

"After contacting Jace, he came and did an assessment. He sat down and gave us a very fair bid on adding blown in insulation to our attic. We accepted the bid and he and his partner were back in a week’s time. They were very timely on arriving and were finished in their estimated time. They cleaned up the area very good. I highly recommend this company for any insulation needs."

"I had three different people groups in who came in and gave me an estimate and what might be needed and what they discovered is that for some reason when the house was built 16 years ago, they did not really do adequate insulation.  I did feel very comfortable with Precise & Snug.  They were good about being able to show me pictures.  They showed how it looks up on the attic.  When you are in the process, the told us that they can do this and that and it would cost so much and the final bill was $20,000.  I would not use their service in the future."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Minimal maintenance is required, though regular inspections to ensure insulation hasn't shifted or deteriorated can improve performance over time.

Buying a house with vermiculite insulation is not recommended without going through a proper testing process. Vermiculite insulation can potentially contain asbestos, which poses health risks when disturbed. While it is possible to purchase a home with vermiculite insulation, you should have it tested for asbestos, and ensure proper containment if asbestos is present. If asbestos is present, you will want to hire a professional to remove it, ideally before you move in.

Single-pane windows might let in the cold, but if you’re not ready for a long-term solution or window replacement, there are quick fixes to keep your space warmer. Start by sealing gaps with weatherstripping or caulking around the frame to block drafts. For an extra barrier, apply window insulation film to the glass, trapping an air pocket between the film and the window. Thick curtains or thermal drapes can also help keep the chill at bay. And if you’re in a pinch and looking to get creative, bubble wrap can provide a surprisingly effective layer of insulation—just spritz the window with water and press it on, bubble side in.

Generally, the cost of ice dam removal is not covered by homeowners insurance because it is often considered preventable maintenance. However, the damage caused by ice dams is frequently covered. Depending on your policy, this can include interior water damage, roof collapses, and damage to shingles. Coverage for personal belongings affected by leaks may vary. It is important to check your policy details or contact your insurer to confirm what your plan covers. Keep in mind that any damage resulting from a DIY attempt to remove an ice dam will likely not be covered.

Garden blankets and frost cloths are the best things to use to protect trees and plants from frost. They are made from polypropylene fabric, which is lightweight, breathable, and dries fast. If you can’t get garden blankets or frost cloths before the freeze, you should use lightweight blankets, sheets, or towels.
