"Norma is a pleasure with which to work -- she is fast, efficient, and thoughtful. Her primary goal is to listen to her clients, provide advice, and get them going in the directions of their dreams. We were on a tight budget but needed some help -- I called Norma, set up some time to talk, and before you know it, she had provided us with tons of advice, floor plans, and some good questions to clarify what we were hoping to do. Our meetings in person were exceptional and she was constantly listening to us talk, not the other way around. Norma has a particularly clean style that can lean modern or traditional, depending on what you're seeking. Clean, bright, and uncluttered is what you'll find at Entwine interiors. A highlight is her thoughtfulness in space-saving designs in addition to what I have mentioned, above."

"I have never worked with other decorators, but Nick brings the shopping to me.  He has samples to show me or he sends links to pictures.    This has made the process so easy.
I really enjoy working with Nick.  He is offers great ideas but is flexible when my budget or personal taste requires.  He has great
furniture contacts for reasonably priced, well built materials.  I got a great modular couch that can be reconfigured to meet the needs of the group in the room.  It was Nick's idea that it be modular because it served many functions but  it was also good for getting the pieces into the space.
Nick is also willing to disagree.   I am paying him for his opinion, so that's what I want.
In my experience with Nick decorating is not delivered in a one moment package.   One piece comes,  a little later some other pieces come. Then there is the final arranging and accessorizing and we are done.  It is a bit like completing a puzzle - typically not done in one sitting.
Nick is also respectful of budget.  It is very easy in decorating to get carried away or make changes that impact the budget.  Nick has always offered me options to stay on budget, and when we veer off it has been my decision.

"IDEA was recommended to us by a local designer for two bathroom updating projects.  Marty and IDEA provided a very reasonable quote to replace a light fixture, 3 vanity faucets, a shower fixture, a roman tub fixture and a toilet tank water line.  Marty also recommended a sub-contractor to change out the old brass trim on our glass shower door enclosure.  Marty was willing to help trouble shoot any problems that came up during the project and was on site each day to inspect the work of his team.  Overall, we are happy with the work performed and the new look of our bathrooms.

"Rae is a master at what she does and a true visionary. She and her team spent time getting to know us -- how we live in our space, our personalities and our design aesthetic. We had an idea of what we wanted going into this process, but she elevated our vision beyond our wildest expectations. Rae incorporated innovative elements and artistic value in each room she designed for us --- things we would have never thought of on our own. She and her team of contractors executed the design flawlessly, with precision and the highest attention to every last detail. And the project came in on time and at budget. To say we had a positive experience with Rae Duncan Interior Design would be an understatement. I never thought that redesigning my house would be such a fun, inspiring and stress-free experience. She has made our house a home and a real show stopper. Rae is now our 'designer for life' and we have plans to work with her again to design more rooms in our home. I can't thank Rae and her team enough; I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a talented, professional and fun interior design firm. Thank you, RDID! Side note: We came to RDID after months of working with another well-known interior design firm in Chicago. Long story short, that design firm completely missed the mark and presented a design that was nothing like what we wanted, after months of working on it without any check ins. We were out tens of thousands in design fees with the other design firm, but the end product with Rae was worth hiring her instead of continuing with our previous firm and a design we weren't excited about."

"Based on our past experience with AOM (interior painting), we used them to powerwash our home. They had all the appropriate equipment and did an excellent job. Our 20 year old vinyl siding looks totally refreshed. David is easy to work with and goes the extra mile. We will continue to AOM for future projects.

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

How long it takes a kitchen designer to complete their work ranges greatly, from just a few hours, to a couple of weeks. Their timeline depends on how complex the design is and the scope of your kitchen remodel. Some remodels are aesthetic and can be as simple as adding new countertops or different cabinets. Those designs will take less time than, for instance, a full gut of your kitchen with a whole new layout and all new appliances.

Deciding to hire an interior designer or an interior decorator is entirely dependent on what you’re looking for out of your project and your budget. Interior decorators typically cost less than interior designers, both in hourly rates and overall project costs.

If you want to add furnishings to your home but it’s otherwise set with permanent fixtures, an interior decorator would be best for you. However, if you are looking to remodel your home or are building a new home and would like help with permanent structures like cabinets, showers, and overall layouts, an interior designer is best.

Yes, professional designers collaborate with contractors to ensure seamless execution of the design plan.

Universal design is a design concept that states that products, spaces, and general environments are designed to be used by everyone, with an emphasis on accessibility for those with limited mobility or other special needs.

Costs depend on project size, customization, and the designer’s experience and hourly rate.
