I am one for having the same person that I can trust, come to my home and do their job and I don't have to worry. Paul I'm sure deserves a raise but keeps on with a happy attitude. After working in the business for 7 years and obtaining a bachelors degree in landscape architecture, Pedro Garcia chose to build his own company . With the help of his wife, Mandolyn, 2 older brothers, Adrian and Eleazar, and a close family friend, Jessen Jene Buste, the adventure began in March of 2011 in the state of Idaho. Advanced Landscape Design & Construction (ALDC) is a company that is family owned and committed to the ideals of strong ethics and personal attention to every customer. ALDC aspires to grow in the next several years to eventually own a nursery and rock yard as well. Building a strong foundation for the future of the company, we pay close attention to details to provide quality services. Pedro has sold, designed, and supervised all of the work of their young company, ALDC. Within the first half of the year the business existed, a full-fledged company was established with 4 employees, all company owned equipment, and jobs throughout the Inland Northwest. We have invested our time and funds in making the company grow into a legitimate, reputable business. In addition to our design-build department, we have a professional garden care department that is available to help with any pruning of shrubs and trees, lawn care, and general maintenance of flower beds. Snow removal services are also provided in the wintery seasons at any hours of the day or night. The company embraces the ongoing growth of technological advances in the design-build landscaping industry and will continue to fill niches in this particular area.

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

When it comes to combatting the effects of soil compaction, core aeration does a far better job for a longer period of time—because it actually removes dirt rather than just pressing holes into it. By taking dirt out from under your lawn, core aeration allows more light, air, water, and nutrients to penetrate into the soil below and help your grass’s roots grow even stronger.

A manual spike aerator or aerator shoe is a very affordable way to aerate a lawn. Such devices can often be purchased for between $30 and $50. Liquid aerator is another affordable option, but this enzymatic spray may not work as well as actual, physical aeration for helping ease compacted soil and may take several applications.

Yes, you should water the lawn after aerating. Now that you’ve loosened up the soil to better receive nutrients, it’s time to hydrate and fertilize your lawn. You’ll want to keep it evenly moist to promote healthy growth. Don’t drown your grass—too much of a good thing can reverse all the work you’ve done with aeration in the first place. But especially if you’ve overseeded and/or fertilized after aeration, you’ll want to ensure a moist soil layer to absorb those nutrients and fuel for new growth.

Adding seed to existing grass is often known as overseeding, as opposed to reseeding. Reseeding refers to the process of filling in bare or dying patches of lawn—or in some cases, full lawns—whereas reseeding supports existing lawns to prevent thinning. Overseeding is an ideal annual lawn care practice for grass fighting drought, disease, weeds, or pest issues.

Try the tool test first. A screwdriver or a similarly long, thin tool will work best, as spades and shovels are too big. If something still seems off despite the screwdriver smoothly going into the soil, look for other signs that you need aeration, like thinning grass, discolored areas, and puddles forming on your lawn after light rain. This indicates poor drainage because of too many areas being compacted.
