"We had a small but difficult flat roof that was in very bad shape, and we could not find anyone with the skill who could or would take on this job. CCX was recommended to us, and they responded quickly with politeness and friendliness. They definitely have the ability to do all kinds of roofing and do it well. Remington and the office staff are lovely people. Their team worked us into their schedule and saved our historic, old building!"

"Kramer siding did an amazing door wrap installation on my wooden exterior door frames!!! Lines are perfect, no peeling and really added a "finished" look to my home. They also installed a flagpole that I had just purchased!! Love, my flagpole and get so many compliments on it. I live in a very windy area and the pole is straight and secure at the base. No problems whatsoever. Eric and Colton have been great to work with. They have worked with my time schedule and very accommodating to my needs and what I wanted and expected. With over 32 years of experience, it shows! It's refreshing to actually have a project performed, as well as my wants and expectations heard. I would highly recommend this company!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

You can calculate the required square footage of siding you need by measuring the height and width of your home’s rectangular exterior walls. For the triangular-shaped gable walls, measure the height from the ground to the tallest gable point to make sure you have enough for good coverage. Once you have combined the totals for each wall, add another 10% to account for wasted materials. It’s also good to have extra siding on hand to tackle wood siding repair down the road.

Yes, cedar is a popular option for shou sugi ban siding, which is a Japanese style of charring wood for a home’s exterior to finish and protect the material. Cedar shou sugi ban siding costs $15 per square foot on average, but ranges between $2 and $25 per square foot depending on your home’s size, the price of labor, and where you live.

Concrete log siding is not the same as fiber cement siding. Fiber cement siding is made from a mixture of cement and cellulose fibers, while GFRC is made from cement, glass fibers, and polymers. The materials are similar in their durability, longevity, and curb appeal, and the main difference is that concrete log siding is available in more styles that resemble traditional log siding. Fiber cement is also less expensive, with materials costing around half what you’d pay for concrete log siding.

You should consider a siding replacement material that meets your expectations for budget, durability, and if you want to complete the siding project yourself. Some materials are better than others in certain climates and easier to install for beginners. If you’re unsure which material suits your home, check with a local contractor for guidance.
