"I am so very thankful Painting Innovation LLC came to my exterior house painting rescue. I had a previous painter who spent 3 MONTHS, while I was working, NOT doing his job. FIRED the previous painter. Too late in season for Innovation Painting to fix and redo the job. With in 7 days this spring. The work was completed to my satisfaction! I am grateful that they took on this project because the stupid previous painter used a mix between painters tape and MASKING TAPE which was a nightmare for these painters to remove. I am now hanging my window boxes and grateful that My home is Painted and gorgeous. Many thanks Angel Reyes. Hagerman, Idaho"

Small jobs welcome

"Hands down the best painters I have ever worked with! Jesse knocked the ball out of the park on painting our house. The home that we just bought was 3,000 feet of pure yellow interior walls. Everywhere. It was blinding. We had to get rid of it. I had already had another painter come out and bid the job, but after they bid it, they kept moving my start date back. Finally I got tired of waiting and looked for another contractor. That's when I found JayDee on HomeAdvisor. Jesse responded right away. Made an appointment to bid the job, showed up on time, was professional, and gave me a fair bid. Then what blew us away was that on the day of the job they showed up on time. 2. They used tarps and taped off and prepped everything. They took off the light switch plates and put them back when they were done. They cleaned up any edges that looked a little messy. They finished pretty quickly for a job of this size. And the walls look terrific! I highly recommend. My only concern for Jesse is that as people hear about his good work and great prices, he's going to become very popular!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

Two coats of stain are ideal for the best protection and aesthetic appeal. However, if your decking is made of particularly dense hardwood, you may only need one coat. If you want an intense color, two coats are ideal.

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

Beyond liquid rubber, homeowners can use sealants, stains, membranes, or tapes as waterproofing options. Oil-based or water-based sealants soak into the wood, creating a moisture-resistant barrier. Waterproofing stains—available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid colors—add both protection and style to your deck. For heavy-duty waterproofing, deck membranes and waterproof tapes can be applied under the deck boards to direct water away from the structure below. Whatever method you choose, clean and prep the deck first to ensure the best, longest-lasting results.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.
