"My experience with Grout Works was exceptional in regard to off site cleaning of 2 large oriental area rugs. The owner, David Gentry, is very knowledgeable of carpet fibers, weaves, dyes etc. I was immediately comfortable upon meeting him. I highly recommend Grout Works."

"We talked to 4 Home Advisor vendors - all were great. Harvey Moothart and Pro Floors & Blinds stood out for our project. Harvey estimated a 5 day install - it took 3.5. The quality of their work was outstanding. We worked with Harvey over the course of several weeks to find the right product for our needs. He pulled out and disposed of our upstairs carpeting and replaced it with an engineered floor. He was always patient and delivered everything we asked for and more. We highly recommend him and will definitely use him for future projects."

He never left a mess at the end of the day and communication was easy. I would gladly use Watts Construction on future projects."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet

In most cases, carpeting isn’t kind to the wood that it’s attached to. Most carpet installation uses adhesive or nailing strips, both of which will damage wood. Conversely, you can choose to use an adhesive designed to be removed from wood, in which case carpeting can actually protect your hardwood stairs.

Carpet installation typically starts with removing the old flooring, preparing the subfloor, laying underpadding for cushioning, and securing the new carpet with tack strips, making precise cuts to fit room dimensions.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

Carpeting lasts between 10 and 15 years in most cases, but keep an eye out for common signs that it's time to replace it. Persistent smells despite deep cleaning, faded color, worn-down carpet padding, and general wear and tear are signs that it's time to tear it up. If you are experiencing allergy issues indoors, this could also be a sign that new flooring is the key to a fresher home.
