Excellent communication; excellent followthrough and project completed within estimated timeline and completed as quoted. "My egress window went in just today, and I'm leaving a review already--that's how thrilled I am. Petr came to look at my place on the same day I called him; quoted $1500 under the other guy (who also said he couldn't get a window til November). No frills, just solid communication and answered all of my questions. From dig to driving away = 6 hours. Spread the dirt, took the concrete for recycling, they even pulled a nasty rosebush that was in the way--and the bane of my existence. I'm a single female homeowner and my wonderful father does a lot of the build work around my house--we've re-roofed and re-sided it ourselves--but this needed outsourced. I couldn't be happier or more relieved at how well the process went with Petr and his crew. They were polite and efficient and knew their stuff. Will definitely call again when I'm ready to have them do the other window!"

"Once again, impressive, consummate fair professional. They did impressive and great work that we were all impressed with. Jeffrey, the lead on the project did very imaginary work after being told what we wanted and turned them loose. They did impressive and professional work. We would hire them again! Zach and Jeffrey are highly recommended."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

If improperly installed, an egress window can compromise your foundation’s structural integrity, so it’s important to work with a pro to ensure your foundation remains in good shape. Any money you may save on a DIY egress window installation may cost you in the long run if your foundation is damaged in the process.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.

Most professionals can install a window well in two to three days, depending on the size of the well and the window you want inside it. If you’re just replacing an existing window well, the work is much less intensive, and most experts can get the job done in just one day. Connecting the window well to a drainage system or installing a custom concrete window well will naturally take longer, but even the most complicated installations shouldn’t take more than three days.

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.

The proper way to install a window well is to measure the window, dig a hole deeper and wider than the window, place a drainage tube and cap, anchor the well to the foundation, caulk the seam, and backfill the hole. The job requires tools such as a hammer drill and auger and some heavy digging. Proper placement and window well installation are critical to preventing water from leaking into the window.
