"Amazing response and amazing job done, in a short amount of time. I have known for awhile that I needed more insulation in the attic. I started to search for insulation companies in the area. I quickly started seeing a pattern with reviews on other companies. All of them were, "called 15 times, never called back", "agreed on a start date but never showed up", "showed up but didn't know what was needed"... I was dreading making any decision on who to call. But then finally a company stood out above all the rest, Energy Nerds. I called Mike and left a message. He called back within an hour and even apologized for not calling back sooner! What?!? I called him on a Friday afternoon, he said he would be out Sunday afternoon and the job was completed by that evening! Truly amazing work done in a short amount of time. Mike and Dustin are great friendly people. Very knowledge in cutting edge technology to help you save money with energy costs. Mike is well informed so if you have any other energy saving needs, please talk with him. I would not hesitate to hire them again. Truly a pleasure to work with."

"The installers were careful, courteous, & thorough. They left the premises clean & uncluttered. I can't wait to see the difference in our heating bill. They installed spray foam in the rim joist, a small ceiling in the basement & the walls in a crawl space."

"I don't know what's up with this Rick guy and his company, but the "experience" I didn't have with them makes me seriously wonder who all those people are that gave him such a favorable rating for his roofing services.
I called DeNeve on May 17th in hopes of getting them to give me an estimate on the repair/sealing of the flashing around my chimney-turned-linen-closet (the drywall in the closet was taking on moisture and developing a spot of mold. I decided to have the cause of the problem fixed before repairing the resulting damage). Whoever it was on the phone told me they'd be over that afternoon if they got time or definitely Monday around noon. "Great!" I said, "I can work with that."
Well, he didn't show that day or Monday, according to my 26 year old son, who set aside his entire day to wait on these people. I didn't hear from them on Tuesday, so called again on Wednesday May 22nd.
Same guy answered the phone and upon hearing that no one showed up, told me he'd look into it and get right back to me. He called back 5 minutes later to say that he himself would be at the house around 2 pm on Friday.
Now again according to my son; the guy showed up on time and was mistakenly shown a very minor situation with my freestanding fireplace flue. I'd already explained to DeNeve both times on the phone, however, that the problem was with a brick chimney that had become a linen closet. So, if the man was confused about what he was to look at, he shouldn't have been.
My son says the man was on the roof and gone without another word within 10 minutes. I have yet to hear anything from DeNeve.
I don't know what DeNeve's problem is/was, but I'm seriously thinking all those glowing roofing reviews are plants. I gave DeNeve a fair chance to provide a service and they screwed it up. No way will I be calling them again.
I got the same behavior from EJS Roofing. But they're about to get their own separate review.

ADDENDUM

Well, on June 3 or 4, Rick returned again. I had called another company and was expecting them that Monday or Tuesday,
but it was DeNeve I discovered working on my roof at the appointed time.

I say "discovered" because there was no announcement upon his arrival. Just somebody walking on my roof. It was Rick and he was sealing exposed meshing around the chimney in question. He explained they'd been very busy the past week and apologized for not showing up as scheduled - the patch job is free.

"OK, cool", I thought. And as I pulled away for work before he was quite packed up, I asked him for a statement of what he'd done. "Sure!" he said, again apologizing for the inconvenience.

Upon my return home, I found in my post box, a barely legible invoice stating "seal chimney where webbing is thin"
It's undated; so that hasn't helped me remember if it was Monday or Tuesday. And I certainly won't be able to use it as a very convincing record that anything was actually done.

So, I was wishy-washy on the phone, eh? (Says Rick in his Jun 2 response to my original review). Perhaps (objectively; I doubt it). But that still doesn't explain the contractor's behavior.

I can't testify to the quality of the free patching because it's going to take a more persistent spate of water on the roof to say whether or not the patching worked. So far - even with these past few relatively heavy rains - all is well.

So, now, Rick did, indeed, call me a couple of times after this, asking me to adjust my original Angie's review, and I promised I would - which I am. And I'm sorry, Rick. You seem to be a nice enough guy and all, and you did me a small favor... It's just that the professionalism and follow-through delivered is still a bit wanting."

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Depending on the place where the cutting error occurred, you may be able to fix it. Learning how to patch a hole in drywall is challenging, but if you can tape and mud drywall, you can do it. Having said that, patching is time consuming. Early in the installation process, you may find that it’s easier and far less time consuming to just start over with a new sheet of drywall, cutting a new hole in the right spot. You may be able to use part of the incorrectly cut piece elsewhere, so it’s not completely wasted.

If you already have plaster walls and ceilings, adding new plaster costs $2 to $10 per square foot. For an average-sized room, that would come out to $1,200 to $10,000. However, the cost to replace plaster with drywall is higher—running between $720 and $1,250 for a 10-by-8-foot wall or ceiling (not including drywall finishing).

You can usually tell if you have plaster or drywall by touch (plaster is harder, colder, and smoother than drywall) or by tapping on it (drywall sounds hollow, plaster does not). If you still cannot tell, peek under an outlet cover and check the cut edges. The rough edges show the composition of the wall. You will see either drywall (two paper sheets sandwiching gypsum material) or only plaster material (no paper sheets).

If you don’t have studs in the area where you want to install your TV mount, you may still be able to install a TV mount on drywall. The easiest way to install a mount on drywall is by using drywall anchors—but not just any plastic anchors. Choose molly bolts or toggle anchors, which have a weight capacity of around 50 pounds. For added support, consider pairing drywall anchors with a wall mounting plate. Extra heavy TVs may need to be mounted via the ceiling joists or beams.

The age of your home can clue you in to whether you have plaster or drywall ceilings. Homes built after the ‘70s are more likely to have drywall ceilings and walls, while older homes have plaster. You can also do the pushpin test: A pushpin will go into drywall, whereas it’s much harder to push one into a plaster wall. If you’re still unsure, ask a drywall professional to let you know which type of ceilings and walls you have.
