"I never contacted the provider or used this service in anyway. I have to
write this review so that the request to write this review stops
popping up.
The rating is bogus as it is required to be able to submit.

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

Garages questions, answered by experts

Insulating a detached garage won't reduce your home's heating or cooling bills—and insulating an attached garage will only have a small effect on your home's energy efficiency. However, insulating an attached garage can reduce the transfer of heating and cooling to and from the outdoors, which can reduce the amount of energy your home needs to stay comfortable. Also, having an insulated garage is just more pleasant. Balance the cost of insulating your garage with how you'll use the space to determine if the project is worth it.

The lifespan of a hurricane garage door depends on several factors, such as the quality of the materials, how well it's maintained, and the local weather conditions. As a rule of thumb, most hurricane garage doors can last anywhere from 15 to 30 years or more with proper care. However, if you start to see visible damage, the garage door becomes noisier, or you experience difficulty operating it, it may be time for a replacement.

Insulating an unheated garage can still be worth it. For instance, insulating an attached garage can help with heat loss from your house in general, and it can also make it easier to store electronics in your garage without worrying about them being exposed to extreme temperatures.

If you use your detached garage as a workspace, insulation can still make a difference. Plus, you can use space heaters and a window unit AC to help condition the space while you work without installing heating.

It is typically cheaper to build a garage than to buy a prefab one if you can provide most of the labor yourself. If you plan to hire a contractor for the entire build, a prefab garage or kit will likely be less expensive. However, even with a garage kit, you may still need to hire professionals to install the foundation, concrete floor, and handle electrical and plumbing work. If you are not an experienced builder, it can be a worthwhile investment to hire a local garage builder who can manage all aspects of the project, including coordinating other necessary professionals.

Garage doors are heavy and close under power, so ensuring they're safe should be one of the priorities of a homeowner. Installing at least one sensor is a good start, but it doesn't hurt to have two, especially considering you can install a secondary system for less than $100. Remember that sensors require calibration and simple but regular maintenance checks— installing them is only the first step.
