"While remodeling a room in our basement, we decided to add more lighting to the room. Matt was able to help rewire and add recessed lighting to our now usable room. He was spot on with his estimates and explained everything he was doing. The best part was that it was completed quickly and left the space spotless!"

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"Kevin is experienced and can handle the toughest technical challenges. (He did everything necessary to upgrade electric on my 99-year-old house.) He will propose options to make sure the goals and outcomes are clear. He is an excellent communicator and billed exactly what was quoted, no surprises. "Dan's Affordable Electric completely transformed my kitchen! They tore out old fluorescent ceiling fixture, installed 8 ceilings can LED fixtures, installed motion sensor lighting underneath kitchen cabinets, inside our pantry (wow!), inside two closets, lighting above our kitchen cabinet to the ceiling and installed subway tiles as a backsplash! We are thrilled! End of each day, they vacuumed the floor and polished countertops! Highly recommend!! Outstanding!!"

"Dewayne responded quickly to our need for an electrician. He provided an estimate, which we approved and got to work installing an electric car charging station. He is knowledgeable and personable and made sure to clean-up after he was done. We recommend Onley 1 Electric and plan to use him again as the need arises. Superb work!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Using a wire stripper/cutter, strip about 1/2 inch to 1 inch of sheathing from electric wires, depending on the application. A self-adjusting wire stripper/cutter works best, but a standard wire stripper/cutter with holes for different gauges of wire works as well to cut and strip away the sheath without damaging the copper wire inside.

The NEC requires electrical outlets be installed in a kitchen that has a sink 12 inches wide and 24 inches deep. According to the code, that outlet must be within 2 feet of the kitchen sink. Bathrooms must have at least one electrical outlet, it must be GFCI, and it must be within 3 feet of the bathroom sink.

Simple moves on the same base or within a few feet will not take long, roughly three to four hours. Larger moves onto a new wall or transitioning a box from inside to outside will take 8 to 12 hours to complete. Ask your electrician for a time estimate prior to installation.

The purpose of pigtail wiring is to connect multiple wires to a single terminal on a device. Pigtailing involves splicing a short length of wire, called a pigtail, into the multiple wires that need to be connected. The pigtail wire is then connected to the single terminal on the device, allowing all of the wires to be connected at once. This practice helps to simplify the wiring process, reduce clutter, and ensure a secure and reliable electrical connection.

Yes, gas dryers still need electricity. While their heating system relies solely on natural gas to produce the heat that dries your clothes, gas dryers use electricity to power the lights and display screens on their interface, turn on the drum, and power any automatic moisture sensors inside the unit.
