"The Critter Control Company was easy to reach (a live person!) and arrived promptly for the appointment. Their representative, Tom Mendicino, was professional in every way. Tom gave me a far better understanding about invasive animals and also demonstrated great compassion for the critters that he deals with. Tom gave me a kill or no kill option on the squirrels, which made the choice to hire him easier. 
Removing the squirrels was no small task and took a couple of weeks. I believe a total of 4-6 squirrels were trapped and removed. Tom then did a first rate job in patching the holes and used a more rodent resistant material. He did a few extras too, at no additional cost. Our home is over 100 years old and has many issues, for anyone who works on it. Tom never complained, always explained every detail and answered all questions that I had. He demonstrated a great attitude as well. Whenever there was a need to call him, he almost always
answered his phone immediately! I would gladly have Tom Mendicino back if I ever need this type of work done again. In addition to the squirrel abatement, Tom did a bat check on my house and attic. He did not charge extra for this. 
I had the pleasure of speaking to the office people at Critter Control as well after the initial appointment. I found them to very accommodating and professional. This is a first rate company and I would highly recommend them.

"We called Hawkeye Exterminators to help with a maggot infestation resulting from a dead animal on the roof of our home. The animal had been removed for a few days but the problem persisted, which is quite usettling and gross! Before I searched Angie's List for Pest Control I had contacted a chain company for animal control but did not think I was on the right track. Mr. Rhinehart answered my initial call directly and scheduled me the same day. He surveyed the roof area involved and identified the source of our ongoing concern, cleaning away and spraying accordingly. After the more acute problem was addressed, at our request he made a more routine application to the exterior of our home for spiders. "Phenomenal! Hands down the best pest control company in Des Moines! We live in a house built in the 1920's and have original windows, so my expectations on pest control are fairly low, due to the age of the house and the fact that the windows aren't sealed well. With our previous pest company, I came to expect a few bugs slipping through the cracks because of the house. What Gene and Bobcat did was go above and beyond what any other pest company has done. Not only do they barricade the inside of the house, but he also cleaned off the side of the house where they might have been feeding opportunities for bugs. He also has done such a great job that I have not seen a bug the entire time we have been with them. He spends the time to actually look for opportunities for bugs to enter your home and immediately closes those windows. When I noticed that we had odorous ants, Gene came right out, applied a solution and told us what to expect. In a matter of a day, the entire problem was solved and we haven't seen another ant! While the price may be a bit higher than other cheap, corporate pest companies, you get the owner of the company coming to your house, who treats your house like he would his own and who has an obvious, vested interest in doing a great job for you. I have never, ever heard of anyone having a complaint with Gene or his services. On top of all that, you won't stop laughing when he is there...just a fun guy to have around and that makes working with them so much better! There is nothing worse than a cranky, unresponsive employee who doesn't care about the work he does and you will never get that with Bobcat. Gene and his crew make it so easy to love doing business with them. Never in my wildest dreams would I actually look forward to having the pest control company out to the house and that says a lot about Gene and the company he runs."
