Bubbles can appear during painting for several reasons, but poor adhesion or trapped moisture are the most common. Painting over dirty, wet, or improperly prepared surfaces leads to air or moisture getting stuck under the paint layer. Using the wrong tools, applying paint too thickly, or working in extreme temperatures and humidity can also cause bubbling. In some cases, incompatible layers of old and new paint types, like latex over oil-based, create tension, leading to blisters and bubbles.

Limewash paint does not require sealing in the traditional sense. Unlike other paints, limewash forms a breathable, matte finish that evaporates moisture from the surface. However, a sealer or topcoat adds protection or durability. It can help enhance the paint's dirt, moisture, and abrasion resistance. Sealing limewash may alter its appearance, potentially affecting its natural matte finish. Therefore, whether to seal limewash depends on the project's specific requirements and desired aesthetic outcome.

You’ll want to wait at least two hours before you paint over a freshly applied caulk. This time frame is the bare minimum, however. If you live in a humid region or a cool climate, you’ll need to wait even longer. A good rule of thumb is to wait a solid 24 hours for the caulk to dry to be on the safe side.

Paint your accent wall last after painting the other walls in the room. This will prevent color bleed and splatter from the adjacent walls. Be sure to give your other walls plenty of time to fully dry and cure before painting your accent wall—you don’t want the tape to pull off fresh paint when you remove it.
