"We replaced our bathtub with a walk in shower, and are extremely happy with the work that was provided. In only took one person 6 hours to complete the job, and he was very professional and the quality of work was great. Would hire them again."

Customers say: True professional

"I used Scott's Home Renewal for a first floor renovation about three years ago, was pleased and hired them again for this. Not the cheapest contractor, but definitely the best I have used here. First class professionals; first rate subs, especially the tile and glass people The custom glass door arrived with the wrong specs, and the glass contractor got the factory to make a new one with only one day of waiting.. If you want it done right, contact Scott's."

"I met Brandon and Toby from Clear Choice Bath at the US Banks Home Show and never had heard of them. We weren't going to talk with them at first because their material looked super expensive compared to the other materials we saw. Also, we had never heard of them. But we asked a few questions and they were very accommodating and informative and very nice. They even gave us ballpark pricing which no one would do at the show. It was really impressive that they were confident enough to tell us a good idea how much this would cost. We felt at ease and invited them out to be our 3rd estimate. We spoke with the two other companies first and once Brandon came out there was no comparison. Their product is just so beautiful. And Brandon is really good at understanding what we needed. He even understood the electrical and plumbing parts which the other two companies didn't. We needed to tear out the existing tub and put in a walk-in tub with jets and we didn't have existing electrical and had to move plumbing. We also took out the over the toilet cabinet and vanity needed custom ones as well. Brandon was very accommodating through the whole process. We signed up with them and we were nervous for the finished result. They delivered beyond our expectations. I mean after being in this bathroom for 20 years it's like not even our bathroom. We just can't believe it. A special Thank you to JD, Grant, and Robert.... you all are craftsman and very skilled.... And of course Brandon... The Captain of the ship. It's very impressive how you manage to even come out to the job and tear out our cast iron tub and vanity and everything. We didn't expect you to be here in work clothes. You are brilliant. Thanks Clear Choice Bath. Thank you so much! You really deserve to be known by more of the general public!"

"West Shore Homes installed a new shower. They were so friendly and worked efficiently. I was expecting to have to clean up after they were done, but they did all of that for me. My new shower is beautiful and I am happy with the work that was done and each employee that I had contact with"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

Yes, $5,000 is a healthy budget for a DIY bathroom renovation. It can go a long way in making the space more accessible and stylishly spa-like. Providing you stick to modest materials and don’t make any major plumbing or structural changes, you can upgrade fixtures, retile, and add some stylish bathroom accessories and savvy storage solutions to maximize the space.

A peeling bathtub is not a good thing. It’s a sign that the finish is coming off, and continued exposure to water and cleaning products can continue to damage the finish and eventually the underlying structure of the tub. What starts as a few chips or flakes can worsen into large chunks peeling off.

Small bathroom renovation costs don’t have to break the bank. A $5,000 budget is realistic, provided you're not adding luxurious fittings or making complex layout changes. Changing the layout is the most costly aspect of renovating a bathroom. So if you keep the layout, do some of the job DIY (within your skillset), and use relatively affordable fixtures and accessories, you should be able to stay within your budget.
