"Quit simply, the best! Fair price, cordial, and on time. In addition, he assisted with another project I needed done that day. Hired again to install a ceiling fan on a high ceiling. I will reach out time and time again for the assuredness of a job well done!"

"I am pleased to refer Chris Miller for any home painting project, from simple to detailed, that you may be considering. Chris painted my villa condo's large deck, railing, and pergola with excellent preparation and skill. He left the site tidy while work was in progress and cleaned up after himself when the job was completed. I was very pleased with the results of Chris's work and hired him to come back a few weeks later to do a few other small painting projects for me. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend Chris Miller Contracting LLC to anyone looking for a friendly professional painter. tidy while the work was in progress and made sure to clean up after the job was completed. "2 very nice young men just getting their business started. Were very efficient and did good job for very reasonable price. I did have problems getting a quote for other work we were thinking about doing. Believe that was just because they're new in the business and a little disorganized. I will definitely call them to come back next year."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.

If you’re looking for a reliable plaster repair company, you should start by researching local companies in your area and reviewing their status with the Better Business Bureau. Next, you can contact the potential companies to ask about experience levels, get a list of references, and ask for examples of past work. If you have a textured wall, consider asking if they have examples or references for that particular texture. This method should help you narrow your search even further. You may also want to ask each company if they provide a warranty for their work.

The cost to texture drywall depends on whether you want to do the work yourself or hire a professional. The cost of the drywall mud is far lower than labor costs for applying it. The labor cost to spray drywall compound onto a wall is between $0.80 and $1.50 per square foot, while you’ll pay between $1.50 and $2 per square foot for the labor to apply the texture by hand.

In some minor cases, you can DIY drywall repair with minimal time and money spent. This method is best when you have a hole made by a singular problem, such as accidental furniture moving, and not a continuous problem, like a rodent infestation.

Knowing what product to use is crucial. For example, small holes only need spackle, whereas large holes might need a new piece of drywall. You can flex your DIY abilities on this project, but if you’d like a second opinion or have a more significant problem, it’s best to call in a drywall repair pro.

The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.
