"Kodiak Fencing performed exactly as they had promised. When my wooden fence fell during a recent storm, it fell on my late husband’s hosta garden which was precious to me. I was quite worried it would be trampled by the new installation. Not only did Adam, the main installer, work diligently to finish the job quickly, he was extremely careful that no plants were damaged. He even dug many post holes by hand as he worried the digging equipment might cause damage to the garden. I would call them back without hesitation if I needed more fencing."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Wattle fences are typically around 4 feet tall, but they can be built taller or shorter depending on their intended use. Taller fences may require additional reinforcements, such as thicker posts or tighter weaving, to ensure the fence’s stability and durability against wind and other elements.

No, fence posts aren’t always set in concrete. If you don’t want to use concrete footings for your posts, expanding foam is a popular alternative. Expanding foam and concrete each have certain pros and cons. For instance, foam is easier to install and more sustainable, but concrete is sturdier and less expensive.

A setback is an area of space between your fence and the property line, meaning you build a fence a few inches before your neighbor’s property begins. You can build your fence on a setback—some communities recommend this—but this means a sliver of your property will be on your neighbor’s side of your fence.

You can use soil and gravel instead of concrete when setting fence posts. However, concrete is more durable and longer lasting, so it's worth considering if you want your fence to withstand the test of time. You should especially consider concrete if you live in a region that experiences severe weather, which can damage your fence.

Customization options include coatings, privacy slats, and incorporating colors or ornamental elements to enhance aesthetic appeal.
