"I couldn?t be happier with my decision to work with Central Iowa Contractors. Hoss and his crew demonstrated outstanding attention to detail throughout the entire project, and my new tile shower turned out absolutely beautiful. After many years, I decided to upgrade to a double sink, and I?m so glad I did it?s exactly what I wanted. This is the home I plan to stay in for many years to come, and I truly believe that you get what you pay for. The quality of workmanship and professionalism exceeded my expectations. I?ll definitely be calling them again when I?m ready to build my deck. Thank you, Hoss and crew, for bringing my vision to life!"

Customers say: Quality work

"These guys showed up on the date they promised, they removed my old deck and replaced it with a fantastic Cedar Tone Treated wood deck with metal spindles. Their workmanship and professionalism exceeded our expectations. The finished product is amazing and their price was very fair. They adjusted well to a few changes, like addition of a doggy gate at the top of the stairs with no problems. They also finished in the time they allotted for the project. And when they left everything was cleaned up and the surrounding yard was spotless. I recommend them highly for any project you may have!"

"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

Whether you should choose a flat roof or a sloped roof depends on your particular situation. Flat roofs tend to be less expensive to install. However, sloped roofs have longer lifespans and stand up better to heavy snow and other inclement weather.

Keep in mind that even a flat roof needs to have a slight slope, usually around 1/2 inch for every foot. If it is completely flat, water will pool and cause damage, either from weight or leakage or rot.

While sheds are most certainly helpful for most homeowners, unfortunately, sheds do not add value to a home or property in the traditional sense. However, if the home has limited storage or garage space, having a shed to store things like decorations or lawn equipment can certainly be a positive if you want to sell.

This answer varies based on where you are, but most states require that all homes are greater than 320 square feet. Remember that four walls are not the only requirements—windows, closet space, minimal ceiling heights, and indoor air quality are also factors. Each state and municipality differs, though, and as some don’t consider tiny homes permanent shelters, you’ll need to check to ensure you aren’t violating any local or state laws with your build.

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property
