"Dave from Green Valley came right on time and was very personable. He checked out my roof and gave me some suggestions of what I should watch out for. He did not charge anything for doing this which was great! I am used to companies charging for absolutely everything they do. Very refreshing and I will definitely be calling them again when I need them. I now plan on also having them install a storm door for me too!"

"I had hired Parsons Projects before and this was once again excellent service. They explained everything before the job, came several times during job to check on progress, and came the morning after and walked with me while examining work. Since there was a rain storm right after stain application, they are going to check a few areas later. Stacey, who did the job was honest (kept door unlocked just in case she needed in) dependable and extremely hard-working. I have hired Parsons Projects for three different jobs over the last few years and have them on standby for two other jobs that will probably have to be done in the future. I have passed out their business cards to my neighbors and friends. They do excellent work, are dependable and are extremely honest."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Kick plates are usually installed on the “push” side of a door, but there are plenty of reasons to install them on both sides. Interior kick plates can offer protection from pet scratches, doors being kicked closed, and even kids’ toys during enthusiastic play sessions. Consider what kind of use and abuse your door gets to determine which side or sides to install a kick plate on.

You want a small gap of 1/8 of an inch between the door and the jamb. However, the gap size depends on the direction the door swings and whether it contains glass. You will also want to aim for the same size gap on all sides of the door, so it opens and closes smoothly.

There are a few reasons why barn doors are appealing to homebuyers: they’re unique and add a rustic charm to any home. While interior barn doors are a newer favorite of homeowners, when it comes to trendy renovations—like soaking tubs, farmhouse sinks, and barn doors—it’s best to wait to see if the trend withstands the test of time before making the investment.

While a pocket door can be a smart decision to add privacy in a small space, it most likely won’t increase home value. Pocket doors can sometimes be difficult to maintain, and they can pose a challenge to those with mobility issues. But generally speaking, adding an interior door where privacy is needed will be a benefit to homebuyers.

French doors can seal better, so a good quality, well-insulated French door will be more energy efficient than the best insulated sliding door. That’s because there’s no way to totally seal a sliding door and still allow it to slide past the jamb effectively.
