"I really liked him.  He did a little bit of electrical work but was more of a handyman. I wanted him to look at the lights on my deck and he kind of messed around with it for a few minutes and he got it working.  He was very good.  He charged by the hour.  Whatever you wanted done he basically just charged by the hour."

"Zook's Look with Chris Zook performed detailed and professional remodeling when we hired him to gut and remodel three bathrooms in our house. We purchased the materials with the advice from Chris in how to have the design we created in the budget we needed. Chris gave us helpful advice that saved us hundreds of dollars on the total budget. Chris work ethic and attention to the finest details were the greatest traits of the project. When Chris needed to bring other expertise in some specific areas, such as plumbing installation, he hired people with the same attention to detail. We are very pleased with our three renovated bathrooms and recommend Zook's Look to anyone."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Painted decks typically require a new coat about once every ten years. In between new coats, it's best to maintain your deck by regularly removing debris, washing it down with non-abrasive cleaners, and staying ahead of structural issues, such as loose boards and rotting wood. In some cases, painting a small section of your deck affected by damage or the sun can lower your costs and workload.

Always wait until the morning dew has dried before you stain your deck. The stain needs a fully dry surface to sink into.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.

If your biggest concern is making sure your deck doesn’t show dirt, opt for a darker neutral color that blends in well with your surrounding landscape. A rich brown or dark grey are both good options that work with a variety of house colors. A high-quality acrylic paint is easy to clean and maintain, so it might be worth spending the money on.
