Four generations of our family have been involved in our storm shelter business. From start to finish—the design, the fabrication, the warranty work, installation and sales. We have installed tornado shelters in the following states: Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Iowa, Illinois, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, South Carolina and Virginia. Additional phones numbers - (405) 880-1351, (580) 336-1351. Additional DBA - Ground Zero Shelters, Co. Additional fax - (580) 336-1356.

"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

"It did not - paid $679 for materials on August 7,2020. Work to be done Saturday August 15th at 8 AM. Jonathan Hines did not show up or call me. I called Jonathan Hines & he said he had a truck accident - he said he would come later. He did not I called again, said he would come Sunday- did not hear from him. I called him & he said he was driving to Osceola,Iowa for materials. He said he could come later , unless something came up. I insisted he come or come Monday. He said he would have to have someone else come Monday as he had a job in Georgia. I became VERY suspicious of a scam. He talked over me & said I was being aggressive with him. He talked over me trying to wear me down-he said he would drop off materials, but do not believe that. He just kept talking over me , as a scammer would do. signed Carol A. Bright"

Hurricane Shutters questions, answered by experts

They provide storm protection, security against intruders, and improve energy efficiency.

Yes, most services include resealing and weatherproofing to improve durability. Confirm with your contractor.

In areas prone to hurricanes, not having hurricane shutters can make your home more of a risk to insure, leading to higher premiums. But by installing them, you can save about 8% to 10% on your insurance premium. Having hurricane shutters not only saves you on insurance but can also save you from costly window repairs after a storm.

Hurricane shutters cost about $3,700 on average, ranging from $1,500 to 5,900, depending on the style, size, materials, and your location. Materials may include metal, plastic, fabric, or wood.

Additional cost factors to consider include the number of windows, the time of year you install, and necessary permits. Keep in mind that if you purchase and install hurricane shutters during hurricane season, namely June through November in most states, you can expect to pay more due to increased demand.

Metal is one of the best types of hurricane shutters because they are the most durable and longest lasting option. This shutter type will likely cost more than other materials like plywood, but metal hurricane shutters are a permanent solution compared to the temporary nature of putting plywood over your windows during a hurricane. You should also consider hurricane panels and automatic roll-down shutters that are useful for emergency situations.
