"McKeague Drywall did an awesome job. They came out to see what the project required, gave me an idea of exactly what was required to restore the damaged area. The quote was reasonable and within budget. Great professionalism, communication, and customer service. They will be my first call when I have another project."

Small jobs welcome

"He is fabulous. He did a restoration after flooding for us. He is an artist. He did a whole hallway and there are no ripples. He is kind and courteous. He cleaned up after himself and did small things that we were not expecting from him. He is excellent. We were unable to find anything wrong with his work. He was referred to us by a friend. He fixed an electricians mess without being asked."

"I needed someone to take my utilitarian needs for a safe, weatherproof, predator proof, easy to clean out and aesthetically pleasing chicken coop, run and nest boxes. I didn’t have exact plans but just things it had to included. Stephan went above and beyond to make the coop so strong, I swear you could pass building code and rent it out. lol. Mahalo Stephan and crew"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

Drywall can get wet and dry out without sustaining permanent damage, but only if the water damage is minor. If you have a small leak and are quick to correct the issue and set up blower fans and dehumidifiers, your drywall should dry out. If the leak is persistent, the drywall becomes totally waterlogged, or mold begins forming on the drywall, you should remove and replace it.

Whether you need drywall anchors depends on your specific project, particularly where you are hanging an item. Drywall anchors are not necessary if you can drive a screw directly into a wooden stud behind the wall, as the stud provides sufficient support. However, since studs are not present everywhere in a wall, you will need to use drywall anchors if you are hanging an object in a location without a stud. For very lightweight items, picture hanging strips can also be a suitable alternative.

Pros ensure smooth finishes and lasting repairs, avoiding visible patches.

You should do a little bit of sanding between adding coats of mud. Knock down any ridges or significantly imperfect areas through sanding, which should help you apply the next coat of mud smoothly. If your first coat of mud is pretty smooth after it dries, a quick sanding is all you’ll need. Don’t forget to wipe away any dust after each sanding process.
