"Steve is a good natured and reliable guy who has great enthusiasm for his work. He installed Pergo laminate in my dining room and kitchen doing a very tricky transition of the same flooring from the living room that was previously installed. It came out beautifully and I highly recommend Steve."

Small jobs welcome

"Our painting project was for the trim and window/door frames and a couple of doors and the inside and outside of our screen patio. Painting was very meticulous since due to aluminum vents in the eaves that I did not want painted over. They arrived on time and were very personal = great customer service. The end product speaks for itself. We wholeheartedly recommend them for any painting project. They were very neat and cleaned up their work areas. They did not get any paint on our large screen room, which is a bit of a challenge, that I could not have met! We have already recommended them to a friend for their exterior trim project. This is a small business that has a bright future with their commitment to doing quality jobs in the time allotted with fair pricing! Why havenâ t your contacted them yet for your next painting job?"

"Earnest Middlebrooks and his brother, Michael Buckles, were hired to do a job for me. They were terrific because they arrived on time, did the job expertly and were nice gentlemen. I had Earnest patch and paint some damaged places on my dining room wall. Then, I had Michael remove our electric fireplace our builder did not insulate before putting in and then he rewired it. Because they did that well, I hired them to put up a new motion detection flood light. Great job, again. I plan on calling these guys every single time I have a project from now on. Call them. You will like them. So very happy I found them on HomeAdvisor. This is a much needed service and I am recommending it to everyone I know!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

If you don’t treat a cedar fence, it will turn from reddish brown to gray over time. You can keep the cedar from graying and retain its attractive, deep red color by sealing your cedar fence with a stain that keeps the wood’s oils in and serves as a barrier against the sun’s UV rays.

Hot, intense sunshine can cause your stain to dry too quickly, which could lead it to look uneven or patchy. If you’re staining the deck during hotter months, it’s best to do it in the morning or evening once the wood has had time to cool down. If you’re staining in cooler weather with less sunshine, the time of day won’t make as much of a difference.

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.
