"I hired Sky Blue Painting and Luis and Team were really excellent. I was in the process of listing my home to sell and called on short notice and explained my situation and Luis worked me into his schedule. We are very picky about our home and how it is maintained. They painted multiple large rooms in the house and several smaller rooms and did a 5-Star job. The work was neat (no dripped paint), professional and top-notch. In addition, he stained the front door and did a remarkable job. Luis and Team are also trustworthy. I had a great feeling about him at the first meeting and was not able to be home when they did the work. I left my home to Luis and crew and they took good care of everything. I would hire this Team again in a New York Minute! This Team deserves 10 Stars!!"

"Professional, courteous and competent. The crew did top notch work and in a timely manner. Very pleased with the paint removal from our concrete patio floor and the sealing they did to finish it. They also cleaned and painted the deck around our pool."

"I had an old wooden attic ladder that got broken from a water heater being carried down it. The door wouldn't close all the way. I purchased a replacement and realized it was too heavy for me to deal with. Chris contacted me and gave me a great price. He and his son Caleb came and installed (including cutting the ladder down to fit and also some additional adjustments for the hole so it fit accurately). They cleaned up the area and even got rid of the box that the new attic ladder came in. I was so happy with the work, I asked him to give me a price on another project."

"Steve is a good natured and reliable guy who has great enthusiasm for his work. He installed Pergo laminate in my dining room and kitchen doing a very tricky transition of the same flooring from the living room that was previously installed. It came out beautifully and I highly recommend Steve."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

Staining pressure-treated wood is a recommended practice. While inherently resilient, it's not impervious to moisture and UV exposure. Staining treated wood is feasible and recommended for enhanced protection and longevity. Applying stain and sealant safeguards against degradation, prolonging its life span. These measures shield the wood from environmental threats while augmenting its aesthetic appeal, ensuring your investment endures the test of time.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.
