"Radon mitigation. Had 100+ radon reading and Ramone came out and installed a mitigation system with three ducts to reduce the radon level. Good quality at a fair price. Highly recommend!"

Customers say: True professional

"Scott made me feel as important as some of the larger jobs he’s handled. I felt he was trustworthy (no scare tactics), attentive to my needs, fairly priced, and accessible. Out of my experience with other vendors, he’s the only one I would recommend to friends and family. Anyone seeing this review, should feel comfortable in knowing that their home is in great hands."

"Matt did the initial quote and was very helpful, knowledgable, straightforward in what needed to happen. The quote we received was the lowest and we had the most confidence in the process and work that was going to happen. The team that actually performed the work were punctual, clean, and thorough...very professional. They actually finished the work quicker than anticipated. They guaranteed they could get the level below 1.8pCi/L and when we received the test results after the mitigation it was at .5pCi/L. We would happily recommend Southern Radon Reduction!"

"I accompanied Mr. Manns and his associate on the inspection of my home. I felt as though he did a quality and detailed inspection and was generally helpful in answering the questions I had. I did find the report to be somewhat substandard, but this was not an issue since I had been on the inspection. Overall, I would recommend Mr. Manns and felt he offered good value for his work."

"The customer service representatives I spoke to and the service men that came out to install the pump were all polite. The job was taken care of properly and all seems to be in working order. We are just waiting on the results of the post installation radon test to be 100% sure the radon was taken care of."

"-Very knowledgeable and thorough- The knowledge that Clinton from CA Home Inspections of Georgia, LLC displayed was really impressive. He walked us through everything and if we had any questions he would stop until he was sure that we understood everything. It was a really nice experience because he made everything so smooth and easy to understand. On top of the knowledge he was also very thorough which was great."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas that poses serious health risks, infiltrating homes through foundation cracks and unnoticed spaces.

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is present everywhere, complete avoidance is impossible. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking preventative measures if your home's radon levels are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.
