"Radon mitigation. Had 100+ radon reading and Ramone came out and installed a mitigation system with three ducts to reduce the radon level. Good quality at a fair price. Highly recommend!"

Extremely reputable, honest pricing, friendly, hands on and punctuation every single time. My first visit was an emergency and Bass came to my home at 930 pm and that was outstanding. "Its been over a year now since having our system installed by Southern Radon. Previous owner of our home had a system placed before our closing using another company but our numbers remained high. After reading the good reviews on Angies list, decided to call Southern Radon and ask for help. Matt visited with us, brought his detector, was able to target a few hot spots and we worked from there as far as how the system should be set up. Matt was awesome, has an amazing amt of knowlege about radon, asked all the right questions and seemed to be able to easily assess our needs. Over this year we have had many contractors visit, assess and make repairs...Matt stands out above them all. Our system works well and we have had very low readings which are a great relief ....The team that was sent to us to do the work I would rate B...a little sloppy ....didn't cover nearby area to protect or prevent a mess, as i remember some debris shooting out ...onto floor and walls and storage...would have been better if they were proactive and covered the areas that could possibly be affected...."

"I accompanied Mr. Manns and his associate on the inspection of my home. I felt as though he did a quality and detailed inspection and was generally helpful in answering the questions I had. I did find the report to be somewhat substandard, but this was not an issue since I had been on the inspection. Overall, I would recommend Mr. Manns and felt he offered good value for his work."

"The customer service representatives I spoke to and the service men that came out to install the pump were all polite. The job was taken care of properly and all seems to be in working order. We are just waiting on the results of the post installation radon test to be 100% sure the radon was taken care of."

"-Very knowledgeable and thorough- The knowledge that Clinton from CA Home Inspections of Georgia, LLC displayed was really impressive. He walked us through everything and if we had any questions he would stop until he was sure that we understood everything. It was a really nice experience because he made everything so smooth and easy to understand. On top of the knowledge he was also very thorough which was great."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

Use a radon test kit or hire professionals to conduct a detailed assessment of radon levels in your home.

Radon is the number one non-smoking cause of lung cancer in the United States, but it can cause some other concerning side effects in the meantime. If you have a raspy voice, chest pains, trouble breathing, difficulty swallowing, or any of the above, don’t hesitate to perform radon testing and install a mitigation system as soon as possible.

The cost to replace a radon fan ranges from $300 to $600 for the fan itself, with installation adding an additional $200 to $500. Overall, the total cost for replacement can range from $500 to $1,100, depending on factors such as the fan model, home size, and local labor rates. If the fan is part of a larger radon mitigation system, the price may be higher.

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.
