He arrived on time and completed task in a timely manner. I highly recommend him. I have already discussed another project with him involving floor repair where floor furnace was removed."

"The owner was responsive to provide a bid and started work on the agreed upon day. The foundation repair seems to be of good quality and I would recommend them for this type of repair. They work met all expectations for this portion of the project. We included a small tuck pointing project on a wall and masonry refinishing of a porch step as part of the contract. This small part of the project overshadows the entire job based on the poor quality of work. The pictures below show the tuck pointing AFTER the first attempt to fix the problem. They did not even touch the worst bricks at the top and poorly applied masonry on the bottom part as shown in the picture. On the step, they patched the a portion that was flaking and left the remainder of the step untouched. The owner said he didn't think we had agreed to fix the whole step (why would anyone only patch one foot of a six foot step? ...and it was specified in the contract). He made the requested repairs after the first attempt and less than two weeks later, the second picture shows the end results. It crumbled like sand without touching it! I emailed the owner and asked how he would like to handle the situation and he never responded back. Masonry work is not their specialty....Floors Sag and Shake doesn't apply to masonry! I don't normally write reviews, but I can't let this go without sharing."

Door Repair questions, answered by experts

In short,  door hinges stop squeaking when oiled because lubrication causes friction to decrease. The squeaking sound a door makes is caused by friction from lack of lubrication. So, when you apply oil or oil-based lubricants to the door hinges it causes the friction to decrease and stop the squeaking.

Yes, replacing the door casing rather than the entire door and doorframe is possible. To do this, gently pry the casing away from the wall and remove it. It’s also possible to remove the casing before installing a new door and then reinstall it afterward, so you don't have to purchase new casing.

First, it's possible that your door hinge pin was designed not to be removable for security purposes. If this is the case, the pin is either encased within the barrel or secured using rivets. If a pin is stuck even though it's intended to be removable, it may be weighed down by paint or rust. If dried paint is causing a pin to stick, use a knife to carefully cut through the layers of paint that are caked into the area between the plate and pin. If rust is the culprit, lubricate the area.

WD-40 can temporarily silence a squeaky door hinge, but it is not recommended as a long-term solution. While it is effective at breaking down rust and grime, it contains very little lubricant and evaporates quickly. Using WD-40 can also attract dirt and dust to the hinges, which may cause more wear and tear over time. For a more lasting fix, after cleaning the hinge, apply a true lubricant. Better options include silicone spray, white lithium grease, metal or plastic lubricants, or oil-based products like petroleum jelly.

To keep a door level on an uneven surface, use shims or scraps of underlayment to hold the door level while you attach the hinges. Keep in mind that on an uneven surface, the slope of the floor when open may not be the same as when it’s shut. Use a level to keep from shimming your door too much or too little while attaching the hinges.
