Thank you for your interest in Gablehouse Wallcovering Installations! I would like to introduce myself as one of Tallahassee’s most experienced wall covering contractors. I am the sole empoyee in my company. I personally do all the work. For 27 years, I have been installing all types of wall coverings from delicate, high-end papers and fabrics to residential and commercial materials. I do small jobs, as well as large, and I am experienced with the correct and most efficient means of removing wall coverings. I work well with interior designers and have worked with many in town. I insist on proper site preparation and correct material installation, as it gives the best and longest lasting outcome for the job. My prices are competitive. Additionally, I offer a wide range of handyman-type repair services, which homeowners have found helpful. Some recent repairs I have done include sheet rock repair, hard coat plaster repair, fixing leaking toilets, cabinetry repair, gutter repair, installing new light fixtures, towel bars, and mirrors, and more. These have proven to be a great added service to my clients. It's easier and cheaper for the client if I can handle these types of repairs while I am in their home or office installing wall coverings rather than them calling in a separate specialist. I would be happy to take care of any repair projects you may have even if you do not require my wall papering services. I do my best to be dependable, reliable, and assure my clients they can expect nothing less than the highest quality work from me. With great attention to detail, a keen sense of quality, and guaranteed workmanship, I look forward to helping you with your home or office decorating and repair projects!

Furniture Reupholstery questions, answered by experts

The average time it takes to reupholster a piece of furniture is around eight hours, but it varies significantly based on the piece. A professional can usually reupholster smaller furniture units like dining chairs or small ottomans in two to three hours, while an entire sofa might take several days or up to a week. Antique furniture tends to take longer to reupholster because greater care needs to be taken to preserve the piece. Your timeline might be a bit longer if you need other repairs done, like sanding and refinishing wood components.

If your couch is damaged, you are not out of options. You might try fixing it on your own, bring in a furniture repair specialist, or opt to get rid of it responsibly. Depending on its condition, you could donate, sell, recycle, or drop it off at a local scrap facility.

You can make your dining room look more expensive using one or more of several methods. If you're remodeling, you can consider raising the ceiling height, installing an elegant chandelier, or redoing the floor. For smaller renovations, consider changing the paint color to a deep and rich tone, such as burgundy or emerald. You can also swap out the table and chairs to achieve a richer appearance.

Reupholstering is often worthwhile for high-quality, antique, or sentimental couches, especially if the frame is sturdy. It can cost less than buying a comparable new piece and allows for customization, but may not be cost-effective for low-end furniture.

To safeguard your furniture and upholstered items, it's best to use plastic wrap or specially-made plastic sofa covers. However, you should avoid wrapping wooden furniture in plastic if you plan on storing it, as plastic can trap moisture and warp the wood, plus it may damage certain finishes. In either case, old blankets or moving blankets make excellent alternatives. For protecting delicate glass table tops and mirrors, bubble wrap is always a reliable choice.
