"Fast, efficient, professional service. Men were up to date on all electrical standards and took the time to explain new codes to me. They installed 4 new ceiling fans, upgraded smoke, and carbon dioxide detectors . Fixed outlets. I will always use this firm."

"These guys were the best contractors I have ever had in my home. We had a really difficult circuit issue which took some time to uncover, but I know many other contractors never would have found the problem. In addition, they were nice, clean and fair in pricing. Would recommend them to everyone in my neighborhood"

"Technician was on time, explained everything, careful not to make a mess and cleaned up all work, including patching ceiling where he had to cut open to drill holes through ceiling rafters to fish new electrical service.  Then installed the fan

"It was good. It took them a couple times to send somebody out that actually knew how to do it. They finally sent someone. The B has to do with the fact that the first folks that came out couldn't finish it. Something about the bracket in the ceiling didn't work so they had to send someone else out. I was a little bit dissatisfied with that. The next group of guys came a couple of days later. They actually finished up everything and got the bracket in and got the fan up. If they have a general idea, which they did call and ask of what work you need to have done, then they know not to send someone who can't do it. The price was reasonable. I did have to pay additional over the Big Deal price."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.
