"We really can’t say enough great things about Creative Basements and more specifically,  Jason and Bob.  This project was executed on schedule, start to finish and the Creative Basements team to include the subcontractors were an absolute joy to work with. They explained every detail of the process and were very responsive to the questions and the design changes we had along the way. Their attention to detail was outstanding and they really worked hard to make this an awesome experience for us and we are nothing less than absolutely ecstatic about our newly finished basement .  So kudos to you Jason and Bob on a job well done, thanks so much and count us among your biggest advocates! "Larry came out to look at the job of a basement remodel and immediately noticed the beam issue before we said anything. We decided at this time to just fix the support structure. We eventually want a wall under one beam but we wanted to leave the other part of the room open. Larry came out and used jacks to straighten out the beams and then built a wall under the one beam that will be finished in a future job and then braced and supported the open beam.He used an LVL beam the proper size and length and built up the column to make the house sound again. Very knowledgeable and we would highly recommend Lar-Con."

"Kimberly and her team were excellent. She and her team finished our basement. She was very professional, worked well with our designer, listened to our needs and brought great ideas. Her communication and transparency throughout the process were outstanding and the finished product completely reflected the vision. We have gladly referred her to friends for other projects and will continue to do so."

"Once hired, Mark and his team arrived on time and ready to work. Time line is running just as Mark estimated 12 to 14 weeks. We are only half way through that as I write this review. Looking forward to the finished product."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Although it’s not required, air ventilation in a finished basement can help improve the air quality, prevent moisture and mold issues, keep musty odors away, and also maintain the air quality throughout the rest of your home. Proper ventilation will help maintain the value of your investment in finishing your basement. Try basement ventilation methods like installing vents or a dehumidifier for best results.

Save money on your basement finishing project by making cost-effective decisions such as minimizing structural changes and avoiding costly construction revisions. DIY simpler tasks such as painting or basic cleanup to reduce labor costs. You can also opt for energy-efficient fixtures and materials that may qualify for rebates or tax incentives.

Yes, you can add a kitchenette to a basement. However, you’ll have to consider the costs associated with basement kitchenettes. If you’re starting from scratch in an unfinished basement, you’ll need to account for brand-new plumbing, electrical, flooring, and more in addition to the cost of the kitchenette. If you’re putting a kitchenette in an already finished basement equipped with plumbing and electrical, you’ll save considerable money.

Installing a bathroom in a basement isn’t a project for most homeowners. Many parts—plumbing, electricity, and carpentry—go into this project, each requiring expert-level knowledge and tools. One miscalculation can lead to very expensive repairs. Plus, some homeowner’s insurance might not pay for damages caused by a homeowner DIYing this project. You can protect yourself by allowing the pros to complete this job for you.

Walkout basements are not generally included in a home’s square footage, although they may be if they meet certain conditions that depend on local regulations. A finished walkout basement used as a living space may be counted toward square footage in some locations as long as all codes for livable space are met.
