"The team did an excellent job with the prep, staining, and look of my deck and screened in porch. They also painted my exterior, trim work, and replaced rotting wood. Looks great and were very receptive to changes. Will definitely want to use them for some items inside my home."

"Eagle Painting came out to my home on the exact date and time schedule. Steve Kelly came out to get a complete assessment on the work that was needed to complete the job. David the hippie came out first to repair the base around the columns. David is an outstanding carpenter who provided excellent workmanship. I was very pleased with the finished repair. When the painters Clay and Red arrived they began to pressure wash the house , which now looks great. Clay and Red also painted the rails and columns across the front porch. The job Clay and Red did washing and painting my home was truly amazing. After Steve and his crew from Eagle Painted finished I was much more then pleased with the way my home now looks. Eagle Painting is a conscientious and professional company that I will not stop bragging on to my friends and neighbors and would recommend them to anyone. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!

"I contacted Dixon and two other painting companies for estimates.  Two came in close to the mark--a third was almost $1000 over and talked about some rotten wood at the top of the house that Dixon and the other lower estimator confirmed wasn't rotted and just needed caulking (I wondered how the other company could say it was rotten from looking at it over 10 feet away).  With the Angie's discount, Dixon was the lowest  bid.  I confirmed that I wanted them to do the work on the 7th or 8th of July.  I wasn't in a hurry and they still scheduled the work within the next week with the power washing with the painting to commence three days later.  Due to the rain in the area on the weekend prior to them starting, they had to postpone painting for one day, but they warned me it might happen and then confirmed it on the day they were originally going to start.  They were able to start the next day.  They estimated two or two and a half days to do the work; it took them a little over a day and a half.  There were four painters on site -- one acting as supervisor.  The supervisor went after the paint I specified while the others were doing prep work.  The company inspector came to review the work after they finished and he took the check.  Both the power washer and the painters went above and beyond the job requirements.  The power washer also removed some mildew on a part of the brick that wasn't being painted.  He was extremely thorough!  The painters sprayed the paint on my siding in the back of the house.  When I pointed out that they had gotten paint on the chimney cap, they got some black paint and painted it as well.  The painters replaced an extra board railing and a step that wasn't in the work order and actually nailed down the other railing more securely (with screws).  I let the estimator know what they had done, and he did not charge me for the extra work.  I pointed out a small spot on my front door that didn't look even.  The supervisor repainted the entire door.  They cleaned up their work, water bottles, etc and left the site neat.  They carried my items on the deck back to the painted areas after they dried.  They did an overall outstanding job, and I will use them again!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

If you want to achieve a deeper, darker stain color, wait 5 to 10 minutes before wiping it off. However, wipe it off faster for a lighter tone. When wiping off the stain during this part of the process, be sure to work in the direction of the wood’s grain for best results.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

Oxygen bleach uses hydrogen peroxide as a base and won’t harm wood when using it as a cleaner. On the other hand, chlorine bleach breaks down wood at the cellular level and causes irreversible harm. Although you may not see immediate damage to wood after exposing it to chlorine bleach, its strength and integrity are now compromised.

Ideally, it's best to stain your dock once per year. Applying stain doesn't just keep it looking nice and new; it also helps extend the dock’s lifespan. Since you want to ensure water levels are at their lowest, it's best to have this project done by a professional dock repair service in the cooler autumn or early winter months.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.
